I groaned and dropped my bag on my bed, tired from walking around all day. I sat down and looked at Sam, who was digging through a bag.
"What are you doing?" I asked. She didn't look up and continued to search through her bag.
"Looking for something, duh. Oh! Here." She said handing me a small brown leather journal. I took it slowly, looking at her confused. She smiled and sat down next to me.
"I got it for you. So you can have a diary or whatever. Something to write your thoughts in." She said shrugging a little too casually. I raised my eyebrow and opened the journal. It had stiff thick white pages with neat dotted lines to keep your writing neat. I started flipping through the pages and paused as I came across a page with writing on it already.
"My type...? Sam I thought we dropped this." I said looking up at her. She shrugged and stood up.
"Well you thought wrong. Anyway it's just some food for thought, maybe you'll feel inspired by some miracle." She said gathering her bags. I sighed and shook my head.
"I'll see you tomorrow Sam." I said getting up and hugging her, she smiled and left my room. I shut my door after her and sighed, then started going through my bags and putting my clothes away. I glanced at my clock, rolling my eyes at how early it still was and pulled out a pair of basketball shorts and a gray tank top, aka pajamas. Then I grabbed clean underwear and walked across the hall to the bathroom. I shut the door and locked it, grabbed a clean towel and started the water, waiting for it to get warm. I washed my hair and body, then shaved and rinsed off before getting back out and drying off with my towel. I quickly got dressed and towel dried my hair, then unlocked the door and went back into my room. I closed and locked my door before putting my clothes in the hamper, then I brushed and braided my hair in small braids while it was still damp. I looked at the journal sitting on my bed and sighed, grabbing a pencil from my dresser and sitting next to it. I flipped to the first page and dated it, then started writing about my shopping trip with Sam, then about how school was starting soon and how unprepared I felt. I started writing about how Sam wanted to what my "type" was and how I wasn't sure how to answer that because it was more complicated than it seemed. I sighed and added a few more sentences about how some things are better not talked about and closed it, tossing it and the pencil onto my nightstand.
"This is stupid..." I muttered to myself, I'd tried to keep a diary before and it didn't work. I didn't like rereading what was going on in my life, it was too much like reliving it. I turned my light off and laid down, shaking my head. School started in three days and I was anything but ready, especially since I knew Sam wasn't gonna leve me alone about finding someone. It's not that I don't want to find someone, I do, I just don't think that's very realistic and I don't like the idea of getting hurt because I settled for the wrong guy. I sighed and rolled onto my side, staring at the wall until a drifted into an uncomfortable, dreamless sleep.
