*Layne's POV*
While sitting on the plane, heading to Phenix, AZ, Layne started thinking about how good his life was a couple years ago. He had nothing to worry about, he was happy, he even loved his father. He couldn't wait to meet his soulmate.
*Flashback*
"Sweetie, come down for breakfast before you go to school!" His mothers silky voice shouted up at him. He finished getting ready, taking one last look into the mirror to make sure he looked fine.
Walking into the kitchen, he caught his parents in an embrace. His father scooped her up while she swatted at him with the spatula. They were both laughing, staring at each other with such adoration. Most people got grossed out when seeing their parents in embraces such as that. But not Layne, it made him happy to see them like that.
Their relationship wasn't perfect, they had their fair share of fights. But, they were perfect for each other. They are soulmates, after all. Layne couldn't wait to meet his, to have what his parents have.
Someone to be there, no matter how hard life gets. To listen, understand, help, comfort and just love him through it. He has always been a romantic, he had the perfect role models.
"Guys, I'm right here. Can't you at least wait till I grab my breakfast, please?" He says in a joking tone.
His father looked at him, trying not to laugh as he sets down his mother. "Sorry, son. I just can't keep my hands off her, haven't been able to in 20 years."
His parents went to school together. His father was just one year older than his mother, so once he turned 16, he knew. He knew it was her and he didn't have to wait to find her. She was always there, around him, since they had been friends for years.
That made it all the easier for them, they already knew so much about each other. They were lucky, some people never find their soulmates.
Layne observed them, wondering why they were in such a good mood. Its not uncommon for them to he happy, but it was suspicious at this point. Tilting his head to the side, he decided to ask.
Both his parents froze, sharing a look. They stopped what they were doing and sat at the table, opposite to him.
"Well, sweetie, there is something we've been meaning to tell you, we just weren't sure how. The thing is, we know you're seventeen. So this might be a bit of a shocker to you. But.." His mom started, she looked at her husband for support, wondering how to say it.
"We decided we want to try to have another child." His father blurted. Both of his parents stared at him observing his reaction.
"Okay."
"That's it? Just okay? You're not upset, you don't have any questions?" His mother prodded.
"No, not really. I mean, it'll be cool to have a sibling. I am a bit old, but at least I'll be able to help with him or her. I'm actually kind of excited. So, are you pregnant already?"
"Oh, no. Your father and I just decided this morning that we just want to try. If it happens, great. If not, its okay. We already have you, and we're going to be fine if we cant have another. We just figured, with you so close to leaving us, we would like another little one to raise and keep us company."
"Ok. Cool. Well, I have to run, I'll see you, tonight. Thanks for breakfast. Love you guys."
He rushed out the door hoping to escape that awkward conversation. It was nice his parents were honest with him, but he doesn't want to know that they are trying for another kid. Its gross. Shuddering, he climbed into his car and headed for school.
