When he was but a child
everything seemed glossy and golden.
His mind was ever anticipating,
ever ready to learn.
He found happiness in simple things,
like playing in the rain,
or in watching the water flow
as it rushes on the stream. He found happiness
just by being in the beach
building sand castle
under the heat of blazing sun.
He found happiness
in watching other children play.
Or in watching ships
as they slowly sails away.As days turned into month, and month into years,
his blooming mind with knowledge
was slowly filled.
Then his simple heart had changed.
Simple things had ceased
to satisfy his soul. Now he dreams of bigger things,
his eyes now set on higher goal.
Then one day he left his home,
armed with strong resolve to conquer the world. The Big City's neon lights beckoned him,
where in the casino's and bars
the perfumes of women
mingles with the scent of wine..Living alone and far away from home
soon he forgot his goal.
From day to day he lived without any form of control.
He'd drunk and eaten everything to satisfy
his Restless Heart.
He forgot that in this world nothing last Forever.Caring not for the future
he squandered all that he have.
It's too late when he realized
how fool he was to waste his time.
Now his heart is heavy and full of regrets,
He fervently yearned
of his younger years,
Alas! Now he knew
The past will never return. His heart was scorched and scarred
by the memory of the past.
His soul was seared by his triumph and defeat,
he felt sorry and helpless.
He knew he got nothing to blame
but himself for his fate. Now he's older but wiser,
he returned to his home,
Retiring, he found solace in the beach.
Watching the waves as it rushes to the shore,
he tried to gather some of his lost strength.Unsure of what the future might hold for him,
he serenely watched the sun turn red
as it slowly sink into the deep cold sea.
Hoping tomorrow as it rises again,
it will enkindle anew his heart flickering flame...!
