Chrystal

My eyes blink open and all I see is a black void. My head jolts up as my memories come back to me. I squint to try to see my surroundings but all I see are dark blue miscellaneous objects jutting out of the blackness. As my eyes adjust the objects become things like a dresser across the room and a nightstand beside the table. The bed I'm laying on is perfectly made around me. My hands reach to turn the lamp sitting on the nightstand on, but are cut short by chains reaching as far as they can go.

Of course I'm chained, what else did I expect? I guess that leaves my feet. I kick off the blankets and turn my body to the side as much as I can without dislocating my shoulders. Instead of turning on the light I attempt to wrap my toes around the small handle of the drawer. With my toes clinging to the round knob I slowly pull the drawer open. Stretching to look inside all I see is a knife. I griped the small knife and brought it back to the bed, bending my knee to try to get it as close to my hands as possible.

Pulling against the chains and leaving bruises on my wrist I finally reached the cold knife. I turned it in my fingers, trying to figure out exactly how to get out of these stupid chains. Why couldn't it have been rope! I thought wishing I could just cut through it and be on my way. The door casually opened and a petite maid walked in carrying a big plate. She politely set it on the night stand as I hid the knife. Reaching in her pocket, she pulled out a single key and stretched behind the bed to unchain me. This seems too easy. I should have known that the moment I found a knife in the drawer.

"You may eat now, then I must chain you back up." She said then winked at me. I raised my eyebrow and she gave me a small smile. As I continued to stare at her questioningly, I sat up and slid the plate from the stand to my lap. Finally pulling my glare from her I looked at the meal in front of me. The plater too big for the meal. A piece of bacon and some eggs, and a juice glass half full of milk. "I know it's not much, but that is all I am aloud to give you. I was given stern orders not to take you to the kitchen." She said and turn to walk out, giving me a last glance before she shut the door.

As soon as she shut the door I slid out of the safety of the bed, grabbed the knife and poked my head out the door. She had just turned the corner. I quickly sneaked my way down the hall. After I turned the corner I jolted to a stop. Just a couple inches in front of me was the small maid with a playful smirk on her tiny lips. "Follow me" she said and swiftly stretched her short legs as far as the could go down the hall. With out much thought I caught up with her and tried to memorize the corridors.

She led me to the kitchen where she handed me two loafs of bread. "One for now and one for later. You'll need it" she kept her voice at a whisper. I nod my head, thanking her, and fill my mouth with bread. Her hand gently grabbed my arm and she took me to a pantry. I looked at her confused, but then shocked when she opened it and it was nothing but black. Holding her finger up, she began to rummage through drawers and cabinets. The maid pulled a candle out and set it on a stand. After lighting it she handed it to me and pushed me into the pantry with nothing but bread and a candle. I took a step forward and surprisingly didn't hit the back of a wall, but only more darkness. I could only see a foot in front of me and I had no idea where I was going. Clinging to the wall, I took step after step, it felt like I was walking in a never ending darkness.

Is this what the world is? A never ending darkness. You can only see so far, and if your light gets blown out then you wonder around aimlessly, praying for a Samaritan to light their candle. But I don't think this world has anymore of those.

Braden

I hate this. Being in town with out Chrystal, but instead to find her, felt wrong. Robbie was in front of me, navigating us around the town square. I'm looking for faces, preferably one with red hair and light freckles that match a pair of hazel eyes, but only strangers with polite smiles surround me. The sickening feeling in my gut gets heavier as my thoughts being to swim out to dangerous places.

Suddenly darkness swallowed me and my breath hitches. I can hear the town continue around me. "Guess who." Some one whispered. "CHRYSTAL?!" I turn to see the face I was looking for. Bringing her into my chest, barring my face into her neck. "Are you okay? What did they do to you? How did you get out?" I said as I cupped her face, inspecting every inch.

She just smiled and rolled her eyes. "I'm fine, Braden. And a maid let me out." She said with a smile as big as the sea. I hugged her again then took her hand to catch up with Robbie.

"What all do you remember from the place?" I asked hoping she would know something. "I only know the way from the kitchen to the room I was staying
in. Why do you ask?" She said swinging our hands together. We are all three on the way to the hotel now. "Just in case we have to go back in." I said looking in front of me. "Oh...I don't remember anything. I just woke up and got a knife out the drawer then a maid walked in and took me to the kitchen and showed me a hidden tunnel out." She said. "That's all you remember? After three days that's all you remember?" I asked, she couldn't have been asleep for three days. "I've been in there for three days? What?! Are you sure? I don't remember  anything else, it felt like one day." She said in disbelief.

I look at her, concerned, "Before that was the last thing you remember."
"I remember the warehouse, them taking me, you freaking you out and then some guy knocked you out before I went outside. That's all I remember, the next time I open my eyes I'm in a bed chained up." She summarized everything, but my heart sunk a little when she left out the part where I told her I love her.

We made it to the hotel and I made Chrystal go to bed. As I laid beside her my thoughts wondered around like a leaf blowing in the wind. Did she hear me when I said I love her? What if she doesn't love me back? Chrystal rolled over and put her hand on my chest. I looked up, expecting her to still be asleep, and saw her propped up on her elbow and a grin on her pink lips. "I forgot to tell you earlier, I love you too." She whispered as her light hazel eyes stared at me with passion.

I brought her close to me and our lips perfectly locked together. Our movements synced together and she swung her leg around, straddling me. Her hands roamed my chest as the kiss got deeper. I glided my hands to the hem of her shirt and ran my fingers up and down her bare back. She shivered and pressed her lips against mine harder. She pulled away and I took the opportunity to slip my shirt off over my head. Chrystal leaned back in but I reluctantly stopped her. "Are you sure you're okay with this? I don't want you to force yourself do do anything for me. We don't have to do this if you're not comfortable with it." I said. Still sitting on top of me, her eyes looked at me with guilt. "Okay." I said and lifted her off of me. "I'm sorry." She whispered as she buried her head in my chest. "You don't have to be sorry baby girl" I stroked her beastly hair until her breaths got shorter and I knew she was asleep.
