"Devin sweetie, it's time for school" my mother said. I rolled over and threw my blankets over my head. "Get up" she said. I could tell by her voice that she wouldn't say it again.
"Five more minutes" I whined.
"It's your life" she said before pulling my curtains open and walking out of my room.
"Mom!" I yelled sitting up. She knows I hate that. I dragged myself out of bed and got in the shower. I never make it to school on time, especially on the first day. I got out and took care of all my morning duties.
"So you're actually going to make it on time today?" my mom asked as she slid a plate of eggs sausages and toast in front of me.
"I guess so and I'm not hungry" I said standing up and grabbing my keys.
"Devin, you have to eat something" she said standing in my way.
"Fine, I'll drink a glass of orange juice" I said chugging my drink down and smiling at her.
"Okay, have a nice day sweetie" she said stepping to the side.
I got into my white Chevy Suburban and headed to school. I turned my radio up as No Love by Lil Wayne and Eminem filled my ears. While the light was red I decided to look at my phone for any messages. Once I picked up my phone I heard the cracking of metal and I flew forward. Looking in my rear view mirror I saw a black BMW that was too close to my truck for comfort. I hopped out to make sure everyone was okay.
"Are you okay?" I asked as I looked at the back of my car. The BMW was definitely totaled but my truck was perfectly fine. The BMWs hood was half way under my bumper and the hood was crumbled.
"No I'm not okay!! Look at my car!! Do you not know what green means!" I heard right after the smell of roses and vanilla filled my nose.
My heart raced as I turned around to see who smelled so good. Standing beside me was a beautiful blonde with deep blue eyes. As soon as I layed eyes on her I knew she was my mate.
"I'm sorry" I said smiling at her.
"Yeah! You'd better be sorry! And what's so funny?" she asked laying her hands on her hips.
"Nothing. And I may not know what green means, but it looks like you don't know how to brake" I said calling the police since she hadn't done it yet.
"What are you doing!?" she asked snatching my phone from my hand and hanging up.
"Calling the cops. What are you doing?" I asked taking it back.
"I have a tow truck on the way to get my car. We don't need to call the police okay" she said just as the tow truck pulled up. "Damn you!" she yelled glaring at me.
"Okay, since you've made this my fault how about I take you to school and home?" I asked hoping she'd say yes.
"Uuummmm, no. My boyfriend is on his way to come get me" she said grabbing her books from her car. Of course she had a boyfriend. But that doesn't mean I'm going to give up.
"Well it's the least I can do, and plus u won't have to wait on him to get here. Just say yes" I said grabbing her books from her hand and walking to my truck. "Well you coming or what?" I asked getting in. After a couple of seconds she finally appeared in my passenger seat.
"Nice truck" she said putting her seatbelt on.
"Thanks, so uhh, why couldn't I call the cops?" I asked turning the radio down enough for me to hear her.
"This isn't my first accident. If I get into another my insurance will drop me. And when that happens my parents will take my car away" she said texting someone on her phone.
"Is this what you were doing when you rammed into me?" I asked putting my right hand in front of the screen.
"What's it to you?" she asked glaring at me.
"Nothing. I'm just asking" I said as I pulled into a parking space. "I'm Devin by the way"
"Amber" she said with a smile before getting out. I followed and met her at the front of my truck.
"So I guess I'll see you back here after school?" I asked smirking at her.
"Did you not hear the part about me having a boyfriend?" she asked raising her right brow.
"Yeah, but who said I was hitting on you?" I asked trying to cover up my question.
"Hey sexy. Glad to see you're okay" a tall brunette said wrapping his arms around her waist. I wanted to break every bone in his body.
"Hey Liam" she said still holding eye contact with me.
"Who's this?" Liam asked looking at me.
"This is Devin. The guy I rear ended this morning" she said as fear flashed across her face.
"And you rode with him instead of calling me?" he asked now glaring at me.
"I'll see you later Amber" I said walking away.
"Stay away from my girl before I kick your ass" he called behind me. I stopped as his words taunted my mind. I turned around and got in his face.
"Who..the fuck..are you talking to?" I asked through my gritted teeth. I could see the top of Amber's blonde head between us but I was too mad to care.
"Liam please" she said trying to push him away from me. "Look, just let it go okay" she said looking at me. I smiled at her as she pulled Liam away by the hand. One way or another, Amber will be mine.
