Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that this is going to be one of those sappy love stories mixed with some mystery. Well, not to upset you or anything, but that is not what kind of book this is. This book talks about a girl who's life was somewhat normal until her parents go missing one day and her world is suddenly turned upside down.

Teri, a seventeen year old girl who thought that her life could only get better when she found out that she was accepted to Harvard University. Teri, who's parents were just ordinary artists who adored her in every way possible, who suddenly went missing the same day Teri received the great news and was so excited to get home from school to tell her mother and father. But, when she got home, she found no one in sight.

She only figured that they left on an errand. So, she decided to call Mikel. Mikel is Teri's best guy friend and has been for at least four years now. Mikel is considered the most popular guy in school and the fact that he wanted to be her friend only seemed strange at first. Teri used to believe that he wanted to get to know her just so that she would help him in math class, which by the way, he is now passing with a "B+" all because of her. Anyways, enough of the little side stories. That's not what this books about.

She calls Mikel and tells him all about getting accepted to Harvard and asks if he wanted to go out for pizza and a movie to celebrate. He of course said yes enthusiastically and said that he would come and pick her up in about five minutes. When they hung up, she ran upstairs and cleaned up a little bit and redid her make-up, put a nice t-shirt on and some jeans with her favorite combat boots. By the time she ties her shoe laces, Mikel was outside in his new dodge charger. Teri ran downstairs and left a note for her parents telling them that she'd be home in a few hours.

When she got in the car, Mikel turned down the music and smiled the biggest smile ever. Teri reached over and gave him a huge hug. She loved the way he always smelled like coconuts and the ocean.

"So, where to, my highly intelligent friend?" He said with a smile the size of California.

"Oh, surprise me kind sir." She said with an accent.
