The Hunt

Chapter One

Teri and Mikel go out and eat some pizza then head out to the movies to watch a movie of Teri's choice. Teri was more into science fiction mixed with some romance while Mikel was more into science fiction mixed with some extreme action. Teri chose a movie that they both seemed to enjoy.

After the movie, Mikel drove Teri home and dropped her off after a hug good night. She unlocks the front door and notices that none of the lights are on and the note she left was still on the kitchen table, untouched. She goes upstairs and sees that her parents room door is open. Teri steps into the room cautiously. Nothing in the room seems moved or messed up. The only different thing is the note on the bed.

Teri slowly walks over to the bed and picks up the note. It's from her mother. It reads:

Dear Teri,

I know that you are probably wondering where I am and if I came home while you were gone. Don't worry, everything is okay. I am on a business trip and will be back in a week. No, I did not come home after work today. I left for the airport right after I left the office. I had a friend of mine drop off this note and put some extra food in the cupboard and fridge. My friend called me and told me about your note and how you got accepted into Harvard University. I am so proud of you honey and can't wait to celebrate with you! If you want, you can have Mikel over and spend time with him or another friend until I get home. I love you very much and I can't believe how beautiful and smart you have become. I couldn't be more proud of you than I am right now. See you soon.

Teri puts the note down and sighs in relief. She then runs downstairs, picks up the phone and dials Mikel's number while walking to the kitchen to make something to snack on.

Mikel picks up the phone and Teri explains everything that her mother said in the note. When she was finished, Mikel agreed to come over and spend time with her. Teri told him to bring an extra pair of clothes and some pajamas and that he could sleep in the guest bedroom. Mikel said okay and that he would be there in about ten to fifteen minutes.

Mikel arrives ten minutes later and knocks on the door. Teri lets him in and puts his stuff in the guest room. They sit on the couch and talk about what she plans to do while she's at Harvard and what all the cool features of the school were. Around ten o'clock, they decide to go get ready for bed. Teri tells Mikel that if he's hungry, to just get anything out of the cupboard or fridge and to help himself.

They both change into their pajamas and went back to the living room and watched some TV. By one o'clock in the morning, they were both fast asleep on the couch.
