No one is allowed to leave their dorms. The flames were put out and all the students were told to go back to their dorms for security and safety reasons. Less than 9 hours ago I was waking up excited to start learning and becoming an adult, now, I'm wishing this day never happened. I pace back and forth expressing my concerns to Liana about the kids who were trapped in the building.
"Imagine if the fire spread quick enough to get to my building! Poor sam, he was right there when it happened. And did you see that girl the ambulance wheeled out? Her face, her top torso all burned-" I quaked disorderly walking all about the room. I sit down, I get up, I walk around, I sit back down. Liana didn't stop me. "I didn't know chemical explosions could be so bad, in high school we only saw ones big enough to blow up a car or...oh man."
"How do you suppose bombs are made, Lula?" Liana scoffs.
"I can't think straight. One moment I'm in my class learning about conscious and unconscious decisions and the next--boom." I turn my attention to her. "Why aren't you worried about this?"
"I am, trust me I am. I'm more of a suffer in silence person. That's all." Liana briskly moves a strand of hair back behind her left ear before getting up. "You need a distraction. How about we turn this boring room into our own little bat cave?"
I frown. "What if something else happens?"
"If something else happens, something else happens. But you're panicking over this and you need to relax a bit. Do you have any decorations backed in all those boxes? Stickers maybe? you seem like the sticker type."
"The sticker type? Like, childish?"
She quickly shakes her head. "n-no like like that. I meant more like the Tumblr aesthetic blogs. Rose gold phone case." She nods towards my phone on my pillow. "The Powerpuff Girls bedsheets, Jack Skellingtonand and edgy bands bracelets and that whole modern victorian-corset thing you got going on with your outfits."
"You were not lying. You have a keen eye for detail."
She shrugs. "It's really nothing. It's actually really easy. Come on try it on me."
I scan her and her side of the room while she goes through my box looking for any kind of decoration. "I got nothing."
She scowls at me. "Oh come on, look at my outfit, my attitude, the words I choose to use, anything. You're majoring in Psychology you should know a few things about body language and all that."
I sigh dimly and try again. Is she always wearing bright colored lipstick? Yesterday she wore orange, today is purple. She's always wearing black and her body language seems to be open like she's super comfortable where she is. I don't know. "This is stupid." I groan.
She examines a poster I brought. "Come on, try harder. It's kind of like trying to solve a mystery before the main character does. Think, Sherlock."
"You think Sherlock." I mumble under my breath.
"What's that?"
"Nothing. I'll try harder."
I try again this time with her choice of words. She speaks normally? She doesn't seem to use a lot of slang. she's laid back and gives off a warm and nice vibe. Her hair is white and black although it's not jet black or completely white. There is a hint of pink and red in the white area and her hands are faintly stained with black hair dye. "You dye your hair a lot, you're down for anything, you're rebellious."
"Errr" She makes a buzzer noise. "Despite what my appearance might tell you, I'm not rebellious. I am those other things, though."
"Can we stop this?" I get up and walk towards her rummaging through the box. "I would rather decorate." I pick up a poster of one of my favorite shows where aliens run and shoot after the main character. It's dorky but Sam got it for me for my 16th birthday. Somehow he managed to get the actor who plays my favorite Villian to sign it. He has connections to him through his mom.
