Glory for Glory

Chapter 1 Glory was Born

Glory was born. Not too much interest there. She was plain. Plain pale hair, plain blue eyes, and a plain face. The only thing that wasn't plain was that the phrase "DESTINED FOR GLORY" clearly scripted in bold on her back. Her parent's ,Juliet and Marvin Twine, tried everything they could to get it removed, but the words stayed stuck. Finally, they decided not to remove it and named the baby Glory.

One night, Mr. and Mrs. Twine were sitting outside on the balcony having a quiet discussion while Glory was asleep. "I think we should keep this a secret for a while. When, Glory can understand that there was nothing we could do about the "phrase."" Mr. Twine suggested to his wife. "Marv, I don't think she'll ever understand. And anyway your Great Grandfather told us on the day before our wedding, our first child would be cursed with changing phrases tattooed on their back. He said that when you refused to give him," Mrs. Twine's voice softened. "The key." Mr. Twine kissed his wife's cheeks gently. "Juliet, you know that Great Grandfather Herbert was just an extremely old lunatic. He wasn't capable of any harm. Whatever is going on with Glory is probably just a miraculous birth defect. It'll all be ok." Mrs. Twine nodded.

In the nursery, Baby Glory stirred as the phrase changed to, "NEVER SHALL YOU SEE."

Chapter 2

The Early Years of Glory

When she was little, Glory was a very lively, active, and creative child. She and the other kids on the block, played tag and hide and seek all day long.

One day, Glory, Mr. and Mrs. Twine, and Glory's baby brother, Evan, were all at the park. Glory, and four other kids, were out playing in the sandbox. Mr. and Mrs. Twine sat on a park bench, watching their daughter play.

"She seems happy." Mrs. Twine said, rocking Baby Evan in her arms. "'Seems happy?' She is happy!" Mr. Twine replied, laughing. "Have you looked at her phrase recently?" Mrs. Twine asked her husband. "Well, no. Why? Is there something wrong?" "No. I mean, the words changed. Now it says "Live for the Day." I was a little worried, but she looked alright." Mrs. Twine whispered, as an old woman power walked by the bench. "I'm sure she's fine." Mr. Twine said, reassuringly, wrapping a comforting arm around his wife.

"Mommy! Daddy!" Glory skipped over to her parent's, with her four friend's following. "I want you to meet my very best friends." Mrs. Twine smiled. "Oh! Well that's lovely." Glory grinned. "This is Isabelle." Glory pointed to a short, thin haired 4-year-old, that was holding a juice box. Isabelle smiled shyly, sucking on her juice box. "This is Joey." A little boy with large green eyes and a front tooth missing, blew a raspberry at Mr. and Mrs. Twine. "And this is Brandon." Brandon was a tall 4-year-old with messy hair and a happy smile. He laughed and ate some crackers that looked as though someone stepped on them. "What about me?" A tiny boy with pale hair and glowing sneakers asked. "Oh! This is Cayleb." Glory finished. "Well sweetie, it was very nice meeting your friends. But, I think it is about time we head home." Mr. Twine said. Glory frowned but walked to the car. No one noticed the phrase changed to, "FRIENDS WON'T SAVE YOU."
