A Day in My Year

It was a Tuesday morning and as usually I was having a healthy bowl of cereal. I got dressed in hurry having a hard time finding something in my pile of hideous clothes, so as usual I grabbed the first top I could find and a pair of somewhat new double-button jeans. I threw my damp, straight, blonde hair into a messy bun and brushed my teeth. I stuffed my homework which was all completed perfectly into my backpack, slipped on my high tops and was out the door running to my bus stop.

Our bus hasn't been on time more than twice the whole year so far. I hate my morning bus. The seventh graders are all complete assholes. They use the F word as though it were nothing and talk about the worst things like who has seen porn and who's a slut and things like that. I try to read the whole way there but its hard with their loud cussing and horrid conversations plus I can't concentrate on reading with noise even if its the best book in the world.

We finally arrive at school but it's nothing to look forward to. I have gym first period which I am totally terrible at. This year we have to change in a locker room with a bunch of other girls. I don't really feel comfortable but I don't want to look weird. We have to run for a minute straight. I love running and at the same time I hate it. I have never been what you call in shape or athletic. I have a lot of breathing problems but no asthma so a really sucks and I have no excuse. Then we have to do soccer. One of my friends, Tara, is team captain so I easily get picked first even though it was a lousy pick.

I have social studies for my core 1 class. I don't know if I really like my teacher Mr. Hatbeat but I love history. I get to class right on time for once and slide into a desk next to my fangirling friend, Jay. She and I talk while we wait for the middle ages in Europe video to start. It's school so obviously we have to take notes. I have don't get very many but I peek over a Jay's.

Now off to my second choice class, study hall. I don't really have anything to do so I work on some extra-credit. This class is zooming by as I do something I love, writing an essay. Then Seamus comes in and hands me a note telling me to go to the nurses office. It's a hearing and vision test. My hearings perfect but my vision not so much. I just went in and am getting new glasses. I get back to study hall and have just enough time to log back into my computer when my teacher dismisses us. Great.

I have math next which is my favorite subject but not with Mr. Rotater. The information is something I have learned already, in third grade. It is my first class with one of my closest friends here, Hailey. She's okay but she'll never replace the best friend I have ever had at home. We have a sub and she's crazy. We're working on probability which made me want to cry because I worked on a probability science project with previously mentioned best friend. It was a really boring class and I was hungry like every day.

After Core 2 we have the most useless class ever called extended learning. Each day we go to a different core for a half hour of something related to that topic. Not gonna spend much time here especially when lunch is next.

Here's what I've been waiting for all day: lunch. I sit with Hailey, Tara, Mindy, and Ara. We talk and steal each others stuff and complain about how bad lunch is. It's really fun but it doesn't last long.

I have science next. I like science but I'm not very good at it. We are working on energy right now but the unit test is tomorrow. We did a couple of online tests that I did really well on and then the class was over.

At last, last class of the day. As they say, save the best for last, so now I have English class. I love my teacher, Mrs. Emmie. We have been working on giving speeches and we had two of our last three today and still have another guy going tomorrow. Then we got the student evaluation slips back which told me that I had bad eye contact and a fast voice. Then we listened to an audio book to infer about the character and setting. Our teacher didn't tell us the title but I figured it out. It's actually really obvious now that I look back.

Finally the announcement comes on saying everybody can go home now including the bus riders. I leave the classroom and run to my locker. After three times I get it open and race to the buses with Jay. I get there just as its pulling away. Its a lot better than in the morning and I have people to talk to.

I get home and take a shower like I do every night. My dad made hamburgers for dinner and then I worked on my homework for the rest of the night.

The next day goes along the same way for the most part. And keeps going after that.
