Why?: St. Margo's treated her like an animal. They only gave her new clothes once every three months. They would forget to feed her, leading to her being too skinny. The staff would grab her roughly and man handle her even when she didn't fight them. They never turned the lights off, so she developed sleep insomnia. Due to her parents self diagnostic of her insanity, doctors treated her without conformation of the statement. She rarely was given a shower and her cell was unsanitary. Her bathroom was a hole that lead to outside. Poop would get stuck and it would clog the hole unless she was to unclog it with her hand. The experiments that the doctors would perform on her were inhumane. They would test LSD on her most of the time. One experiment actually drove her insane and she had to slowly bring herself back without help.

If Yes, Did She Tell Them?: No, Dr. Jenna sent three men to collect her for lunch the first full day Lydia was there. One man had a syringe on his belt just in case she attacked them. She saw it and threw that man across the room and paralyzed him. Dr. Jenna found out about the opposite world and traveling between mirrors when she couldn't find Lydia in her room. She was found in Jack's habitat. He said that she was in his mirror but not in the room until she crawled out. Lydia was suffering from a mental breakdown and needed comfort from her best friend. Camera footage showed that she crawled into her own mirror ten minutes before exiting.
