Chapter 4:
The cemetery trip only took the normal thirty minutes meaning that I was still the only car on the road but small cafes began to open. I decided to get a coffee and a little snack. To my luck there was a Starbucks close by from the cemetery one I would always pass by to get to school. When I arrived I was greeted by the sweet yet powerful smell of Starbucks’ coffee – they do indeed have the best.
The line moved rapidly there was only one more customer before me and they were just about paying. I ordered my vanilla cappuccino and sat down in a booth far in the corner of the shop, by the window. Sighing I took a sip from my drink, a tad too much burning my tongue.
I tried not to dwell on the moments at the cemetery but think of other things like how I didn’t do my math homework and that I didn’t really care I’d get another zero and receive a scolding I usually ignored. The edges of my lips twitched at this finding it funny to see Ms. Fleur blow a casket again screaming at me with her heavily French accent where you could only understand few words when she spoke. My eyes began to drop and I shook it off taking another big slurp of my cappuccino, trying to keep myself awake.
So I just sat there at my booth until a vibration from my pocket made me jump. I pull out my phone and read the text, WHERE ARE YOU? ARE YOU OKAY? I respond with I’m fine, I went to…see them. Hitting send I know that my aunt will understand whom I’m referring to and she did; Okay, her message said. I’m glad she didn’t try to push it and just left it at that. My phone screen told me it was currently 7:05 am – school will be starting soon. I cleaned up the booth and threw away my empty cup making my way out of the café and into my car. I drove to school without once thinking of my parents and for this I was relieved.
When I arrived the parking lot was deserted only a few students were around, those who went to tutoring, I passed by them. Crap, what to do I put my head down and began to walk up the stairs of the school onto the second floor. Putting my head down was a terrible idea because I bumped into something and fell onto the floor from the impact. Ouch I thought did I just hit a wall? I looked up and suddenly couldn’t look away, my eyes were held in place, as I stared up to those coldest and iciest looking eyes that I have ever seen. I managed to break eye contact.
“I’m sorry” my voice sounded weak and small. The boy standing above me snorted, well rude, “Yeah whatever just watch where you’re walking next time,” unlike mine his voice was powerful and strong and intimidating? I cringed from the harsh tone and stood up regaining some of my voice I spat, “I said I was sorry.” With that I turned away thought I could still feel those cold eyes watching me walk away.
Okay so I was thinking on leaving it there but I have been so bad to ya’ll that I’m going to keep writing(:
Those eyes were haunting me all day long, thankfully I haven't seen him around, was he even a student? I've never seen him before so he was probably new. I made my way to science class with Ms. Henry; she was actually an interesting teacher making her class seem better than it was. I sat in my usual seat to the back of the class where I sat alone which I didn’t mind at all, I embraced that fact. The bell rang indicating the start of the class. Ms. Henry who was already in the class called for quiet and attention when she just grabbed everyone’s eye the door opened and in came icy eyes.
The class had gone quiet even Ms. Henry was at a loss for words all the females were goggling him and the guys seemed a bit jealous. I couldn’t believe this then he spoke probably getting uncomfortable with all the attention, “Uh is this Ms. Henry’s science class? I’m Xander and I got this class, sorry I’m late.” Some girls giggled and sighed as he spoke, I shook my head, pathetic. Ms. Henry seemed to have snapped out of it and smiled at him, “Ah yes welcome you can sit uh….,” please not next to me I pleaded, “oh look go sit by Sarah,” she pointed toward my direction and cold eyes err Xander turned to face me, I kept my face emotionless. He walked to the desk and sat himself down; I ignored the mumbles and groans of my peers especially of the girls who were disappointed they didn’t get to sit next to their “future boyfriend”.
We didn’t say a word to each other during the whole class and I wasn’t surprised. I was more shocked at how nice he acted towards Ms. Henry guess he’s a suck up like everyone else in this close. But yet there was something off, his eyes were cold and though they were bright blue they could almost be black because they showed no life.
I didn’t bother taking notes and neither did my partner, hmm. Everyone in a while my fellow peers would turn around to stare at him including Ms. Henry, which was disturbing. And it made me uncomfortable because usually people would forget I was here but now I’m suddenly visible. It seemed to have been the longest period but it finally ended and I made my way to the cafeteria. Instantly I was engulfed with noise but all conversations were rooted at the same place, Xander Griffins. Claire ran up to me in the line waiting for me to finish paying for the food. We walked to our table consisting of me, her and Henry. It’s funny how Henry has Ms. Henry as a teacher, I wish I had him in my science class as well as Claire. “So is it true???” she whispered loudly, I was utterly confused, I looked at Henry for some help. He smirked, “She wants to know all the details of the new boy since you’re supposedly sitting next to him…” I caught on, wow things get around fast. “Yes I do sit next to cold eyes and I think he’s a complete asshole.” I responded to her question.
“Oh you do, do you?” I hadn’t realized that the cafeteria had gone quiet and that meant… I turned around and sure enough there was Xander looking all smug with his dark black hair falling a little on his eyes. I gulped every single pair of eyes were on us, I hate attention. I took in a shaky breath before I spoke, “I do and you can’t change my opinion.” People held their breath waiting for his response, “That’s true” his eyes met mine directly I began to feel light-headed and weak in my knees. Soon I was falling before I hit the ground I felt a pair of strong arms catch me before I fell into unconsciousness I saw those blue icy cold eyes.
So how was it???(: Please comment, vote, and fan
