Hours pasted as I laid there, staring at the plain white ceiling above me. I hadn't moved, all I had done was think, think of how horrible I was to Nico, how I was going to betray him after all he had done for me. Finally I was thinking straight now and I realised how wrong it would be to just leave, that in fact instead of getting rid of the burden of worrying about me, it would only worsen it.
Slowly, I got up from my stiffened position and stretched, reaching under my bed and grabbing my bag. Jumping off my bed I walked over to my light wooden draws and put away my hats, then threw my bag aside and exited my room.
The silence was disturbed by the creaking of my door as I crept out and scanned the room for Nico.
"Nico, you still here?" I shouted as I walked over to the large sofa, leaping over the back and slouching down into the comfy a ray of cushions. Lazily I used my tail to switch on the TV with the black remote which sat on the other side of the chair, cutting off the silence completely as the opening of Adventure Time rung through the apartment.
Before I knew it I was surrounded in darkness dreaming of a paradise filled with all things cute, when suddenly I was ripped out of that paradise and pulled back to that boring reality by a slam of a door. I wearily opened one eye to find the cause of the goddamn sound that had woken me up from my all so precious sleep.
It was Nico, "Jerk" I sighed, sleep was my favourite thing and being woken up was my ultimate hate. Like seriously don't do it, sleep is what I live for so unless you want to be my worst enemy don't wake me up.
"Sorry I didn't hear you, what?" He shouted so I opened me eyes to see him practically right in front of my face, once again wearing that teasing smirk of his. Is this guy seriously dumb and forgot about our argument earlier or is he just acting like it never happened on purpose I questioned myself.
I guess I might as well be the better person and apologise, goodbye pride I thought as mumbled an apology to him; turning away so I was no longer facing him. I didn't want to see that smug face of his.
But to my surprise when I turned my head back around I didn't see the smug expression I was expecting. Instead he just stood up and ruffled my hair, like I was some kind of pet. Then he just collapsed down on the sofa next to me, throwing his lanky legs on to the glass table.
Curiosity hit me when a medium sized bag caught my eye, which layed slightly crumpled apon his large lap. As I looked closer, trying to analyse what it could possibly be, I noticed some letters printed on the front. I looked closely between the crinkles to spell out the word Apple. My interest immediately disappeared so I turned my focus back to the loud cartoons which boomed from the tv.
"Sooooo" Nico slowly dragged out,
"Hm, what?" I questioned as I turned to face him.
"Aren't you gonna ask what's in the bag?" He replied,
"Nah, I'm not interested"
"What, really? You're usually so nosey, what happened, are you moody or something?" He chuckled,
"Hmph, no I just don't want any of your stinking fruit" I sternly stated.
"Fruit?" He repeated before laughing hysterically after a short pause, "You.. think.. This is.. FRUIT!" He breathed between laughter. A small blush crept up my neck, he continued to laugh at me, "Yeah, I do. Why else would it be labled Apple?"
He finally stopped laughing, but only because he had to breath "Sorry I couldn't help it that was to funny. But no it's not fruit, it's something way better. Here why don't you see for youself." He tossed the bag at me, with my quick reflexes I firmly caught it. Once again curiosity was bubbling through me, what could it possibly be? Before I looked inside I wanted to try and guess to make up for my stupidity earlier. So I shook it which caused a shout from Nico "Don't shake it like that! You'll break it idiot!"
"Hmm so it's not very strong, could it be something glass?" I guessed
"Well I guess your partly right as it does have glass on it but it can be strong your just shaking it way to violently. Look you'll never get it so just open the bloody thing" he urged as if he didn't know what it was either. So I reached into the plastic bag to pull out a white box, I couldn't stand Nico's stare burning into me any longer so I quit trying to guess and just removed the lid.As I peered inside, I was still left guessing as I saw my reflection looking back at me from a shiny rectangle. "A mirror?" Desperate to know what it really was, I faced Nico for the answer. Rolling his eyes he finally told me "You really have no idea do you, it's a phone idiot, you can use it to contact me so when I'm not home you won't be lonely"
A smile stretched across my face as realised the kind act he had done and gave him the biggest hug I could possibly give, "thank you brother!".***
A few days had pasted and I my eyes had been glued to the illuminating screen Nico had given to me."Maybe giving you that thing was a bad idea" Nico sighed
"What? No way! This is awesome!" I jumped up clinging tightly to my adored phone.
"I was just joking but maybe you should take a break from using it and do something else"
"Yeah okay, I'll put it on charge anyways"After I had plugged in my phone I made my way to my bedroom to select a book. I head over to my rainbow of books, sliding my finger across the spines as I scan for a good read. I eventually selected my choice from my never ending selection; I had read every book at least twice.
Light ran across the glistening white walls causing the room to glow as I poked the switch; though thrive even brighter as I drag the patterned cotton curtains across the metal rail, blocking out the dim evening sunlight. I soon find myself sunk into my bundle of fluffy cushions and lost in the world of words.
