"the worst punishment is of guilt and regret clawing at one's soul."-the wise
"They say destruction never knocks before leaving you on the ground, destroyed, alone, devastated," Carter can almost see Grandad's stormy grey eyes boring into him. he doesn't know why the very familiar memory pops up in his thought process.
But in his current high as the khalifa ul burj or is it the other way around, state combined with the adrenaline zipping through his veins he doesn't expect to form a coherent sentence let alone go through a proper thought process.
Everything is extra bright and shiny.
A cloud of neon lights circle around him. Blue, green, red, yellow, it's a fucking rainbow..WOAH! I rhymed! AM I POET !?! he yells, excited like a kid who just found out about the tooth fairy.
She let out a silly giggle in respose, equally stoned. But to him its more melodious than tinking bells. His eyes grow bright like christmas lights as he laughs along with her.
He has been a bundle of nerves all night. Making small blunders in the simplest of tasks.
But just right now, everything seems just right. Loud cheers circle envelope them, he is not making a fool of himself, and most of all she is happy.
Delighted and in all his glory he does't realise his mode of transportation, at the moment his right-out-of-the-showcroom Camaro gaining speed.
Everythng is whizzing past him.
"No yur nottt..sillly..!" she slurs, her bright blue glazed orbs widening before she collapsed into a fit of giggles.
He tears his gaze away from her face to bestow upon the road the pleasure of his glance when suddenly the edge of the cliff comes into his view.
Fear grips him as he lets out a string of sewer worthy curses and swerved the steering wheel. The leather covering slick beneath his swaty palms.
Cold sweat had broken all over him.
She let out blood curdling scream as the tires screeched over the rugged gravel.
But he was too late.
He felt the vehicle plunge downward. All thoughts, emotions, sense dissipating from his mind with it.
He watched her as he they tumbled down.
Dark shadows dance across her face. Blood red lips slightly parted. High arcs and sunken cheeks. Her cerulean gaze wide, glassy. So familiar.
Over particularly jagged edge her forehead hits against the metal roof. Instanly blood gushes out of the resulting cut.
He watches the blood ooze down in streams all over her beautiful face.
The car topples over one last time,
The stream flows down her temple,
continues to rock to and fro,
down her cheek,
for a while,
dribbling from her chin
before,
and pooling right before her face. She lets out one last giggle, a ghostly whisper, before her delicate eyelids fluttered close.
easing to a stop.
