ACT 10 , SCENE 7 , TAKE 5,698,438,705,008

LIGHTS.

A soupy muddle surrounded me.  Bubbling into large shiny bobs of color which hovered around me.. Colorful, glittery spheres against the black backdrop. Like those desktop wallpapers.

 Hazy, flickering.

CAMERA.

Suddenly it all began solidifying into reality.

Fancy, beige leather,  slick under my sweaty palms as I tightly gripped onto the steering wheel. A sharp smell entered my nose, leather.

I was driving an expensive car. Outside the window a faceless crowd was gathered. All these realizations flickered in my head like fireflies …or maybe they were actually fireflies.

Then all the noise kicked in. The AC wheezed, loud, obnoxious chatter hummed in the background.

And then she was right beside me, an angel with a golden halo.

ACTION.

And suddenly I jerked backwards.

The car zipped forward, past the the static of stillness as everything blurred into a muted backdrop…all except her.

Tell tale signs of adrenaline and fear rapidly materialized. The light headedness. The stark brightness. The troop of spider monkeys barreling through my digestive tract and the stubborn attempt of my heart to somehow breakout of my ribcage, just like I intended to breakout of the cage of  truth holding me.

The signs, a dull banner at first then a subtle billboard then quickly conforming into a neon sign then a monstrous eighteen wheeler that slams into you without a warning…leaving you defenceless , shattered, devastated.

I was driving  uncontrollably fast. My stomach was churning  and the force of the wind was pushing my my skin taut. Just when I  thought I was going to be sick ,a screech of rubber against gravel occurred and, everthing  froze. Literally like I was stuck in a freeze frame with just me and her in empty space, my hands still curled and our bodies bent in a sitting position almost as if we were an abstract art painting in the lobbies of 5 star hotels.

And I could just drown in the bottomless swirls of blues that I had distinguished as her eyes but as soon as it appeared the view blurred.

Greys and black blotched my eyes and the all color vaporized as my body shook, especially my left side.

“Aye!?!”

“WAKE UP!” The shaking turned more violent by the second so I blinked. Light flooded into my eyes blinding me of all sight. Immediately my eyelids clamped right up.

When the insistent shaking continued I tried again slowly but before I could even blink once there was a loud thwacking sound reverberated right beneath my ear.

Anger surged up as his gaunt, acne ridden face filled up my sight.

“I’m AWAKE!” I snapped glaring at my assailant- my very ugly assailant.

“No need to gerrall snippy clippy. Pay up and gerrout  I aint got all nigh’ ,” he growled running a hand through his coarse red mane as he stalked back to the driver’s seat.

I nodded once and tried to get my bearings. I rubbed my eyes to clear my bleary vision. Stiff as a board, I alternately rolled back then shrugged my shoulders to relive some tension from my muscles. I rolled my neck and gave another stiff nod and with a deep breath got out of the cab.
