~SOLEIL~
(A/N. Sorry for the late update, there might be typos so oopsies.)
Warm amber hues illuminated the cramp space I had called a bedroom. The sunrise was brilliant, the large orb of light peeking slightly over the horizon, a simple sneak-preview of its beauty. The sky was an assortment of reds, each hinting to the sunbathing Selena would be doing later, and consequently trying to convince me to do.
I had woke early that morning. The sunrise was something I simply couldn't miss.
I reminiced over easier times. When Selena and I were younger, and the sun had no ocean to rise over, just skyscrapers. Times when a Keyblade hadn't concerned us. Times when my parents would invite Selena's over so they could play their music. Times when Selena and I would dance about the quaint living space, flailing our limbs aimlessly about as our parents rehearsed. Times when Selena would stay the night, and I would wake her up early in the morning so we could watch the sun rise as we sat atop the apartment building's roof.
Although an island's view of a sunrise was beautiful, I couldn't help but remember the one that rose over the tall building that sat adjacent to the apartment complex Selena and I had lived in.
That was home. Not the island Selena and I washed up on. Not the island we met Koa, and definitely not the neighboring island. My home died with the music my parents used to play.
The sun that rose over the horizon was a reminder of what the darkness was capable of. I forced myself to watch the sunrise in order to tell myself that here is not home.
My feet pattered lightly against the planks that composed my bedroom's floor. Our current living situation was a tree house too large to be considered just a house. When our Master was young, he used this island as a playground. Little had he known back then, he'd be using the island as training grounds to prepare his students to wield a weapon that caused him such grief and happiness.
I walked away from the window and towards the dresser. I pulled a drawer out to grab clothes other than pajamas, but was interrupted with a knock on the door.
"One moment." I called out to the ominous knocking, quickly pulling clothing items from the drawer.
I had no time to protest as the door swung open, regardless of my request. Koa had decided to make an untimely visit.
Heat rushed to my cheeks as I looked down at my apparel. I adorned a shirt that Koa had handed down to me because it was "too small" on him. The neck line was wide, and draped over my shoulders. My bottoms were just worn-out baggy sweats I had bought while our Master had brought us to Traverse Town to get answers from survivors from our home world. Only Selena had seen me in my morning attire.
"When did 'one moment' mean barge right in?!" I snapped.
He put his hands up defensively and chuckled. "Woah there, just thought you should know that the Master wants us back immediately after breakfast so we can spar."
I silently cursed as he mentioned sparring. 'Just another day of getting your ass handed to you on a silver platter.' I thought to myself, gathering the remainder of my outfit from the drawer.
"Annnd," Koa stretched the word like taffy, taking a long stride into the bedroom. "We even get to use our Keyblades this time." He was absolutely enthralled, the word Keyblade set a smile to his lips.
"...Yeah, great." I huffed, words barely peaking a whisper.
Koa nodded. His triumphant demeanor nitpicking at my insecurities. He turned to leave my room, exposing his sculpted back. Planes of muscles shifted beneath the fabric of his shirt as he swaggered out the door with long, confident strides.
