Ｓｉｇｈｔ ｉｎ ｔｈｅ Ｓｔａｒｓ

..::MOANA POV::..
Am I losing my mind? Why yes. I think I lost it a long time ago. Did I really like this demigod? Sort of. But only in a friendship. I don't feel like if he doesn't love me I'll crumble to pieces. I don't need him to hold me in his arms. I don't even want that. I just want to keep my family's legacy and not disappoint them.

I knew I'd have to do it when I turned twenty five. My childhood zoomed by in front of my face, and all I could do was watch and hold on for the ride. When I met Maui, he was just an annoying demigod who needed to fix his own mess. Now I'm eloping in the sacred hut with him.

I'm wearing a red flower lei and so was Maui. We had to make presents for each other's parents. I felt very bad for Maui, knowing we can't give his parents anything. So we gave him some special type of drink, a kind that makes your younger fuzzy and you turn a bit crazy. We also gave him some different types of clothing.

You see, the cheif can choose who to marry. Yet, the person can't be a total stranger. While I know everyone on this island, I never grew close to them.  There was no guy or girl who I wanted to be with, none of them even wanted to talk to me. I did have little crushes growing up, but I never got to develop relationships because of my esteemed status. It only got worse when I came back from restoring the heart. People treated me like a god!

I only knew one person who I could talk to freely without getting judged. That was Maui.

He objected at first, but soon he decided he can't bare to see me get married off to someone who doesn't appreciate me. So, now we're here.

"Maui, demigod of the wind and sea, hero to all, do you take Chief Moana of Motonui to be your makau, and the two of you will become one as an ohana?" Tui questioned, holding the ancient scroll of our ancestors.

"Yes."

"And do you, Chief Moana of Motonui, do you take Maui, the demigod of the wind and sea, hero to all, to be your makau, and the two of you will become one as an ohana?"

"I do."

Tui shut the scrolls and Sina and him gave us hongi's. We where then sent off to our huts, note that this was midnight.

"Don't have too much fun you two," Sina winked. I blushed and gave them a hug. Me and Maui walked off to our new hut we recently built.

"Wait, come here," Maui grabbed my hand lightly and led me down a path to an open lot where our village had a garden of flowers. "I want to show you something." I followed him down the narrow trail.

He sat me down and took both my hands in his.

"I feel very bad about not being able to give your family material objects for our wedding," Maui sighed. I put my hand to his cheek.

"Maui, its fine. You've given us a greater gift, marrying me just for the sake of my village," Moana smiled. Maui chuckled a bit yet turned deadpan.

"Well, I got you a different gift," he smiled, "one that will last forever." I give him a questioning glare before he continues, "A week ago, I had a chance encounter with, you'll never believe it, Pūhaorangi."

"Pūhaorangi?" I asked, clearly shocked, "the celestial god? The god of stars?" Maui nodded with a toothy grin.

"I was going to do this without his permission but I realized asking is much easier than stealing and dooming the world," Maui winked. I giggled and rolled my eyes.

"Just tell me!" I childishly exclaimed, shaking his arm.

"Okay, okay," he chuckled, "calm down curly. Look up to the northwest a bit. Near my fishhook you'll see something familiar." I squinted my eyes and searched for his hook. Next to it was something truly amazing.

"You got a constellation... of my oar?" I gasped, awestruck by the familiar object that was now engraved into the sky.

"Do you like it?" He asked. I smiled at him, joy overfilling me so much I placed a kiss on his cheek. He looks at me, his face in an "o".

"Too soon?" I wince.

Maui then grabs me in his arms and lands a long, loving kiss on my lips. I break from the kiss and we look into each other's eyes.

Maybe marrying a demigod wasn't such a bad idea.
