"Ivy! Come on! There's no time to loose! This may be the key to finding Mina!" Vanessa yelled as Ivy sprinted down the stairs, running to join Vanessa, Ethan and Sir Malcom. Mina was Sir Malcolm's missing daughter. He and Vanessa had loved her dearly and were determined to find her and were convinced she was still alive. Ivy, however was not so sure. Instinct was telling her that she was dead but Ivy wanted to keep the hope alive.

Sir Malcom loved Vanessa as if she was his own daughter. Ivy loved her too. But not in a way that she'd care to admit. Sir Malcom wanted to protect Vanessa, so did Ivy. But Sir Malcom certainly didn't want to be with Vanessa.

Ivy opened the door and took them out onto the street, hurriedly leading the way. Ivy turned to Ethan, an ex sharp shooter who Vanessa had found that morning "This is a vampire nest we're going into, don't get bitten. If something goes wrong, get out. "Vanessa, you know what to do, please keep safe for me. Sir Malcom? Keep your gun handy."

~Vanessa's point of view~
I hid a smile as Ivy gave everyone their instructions. She was the most experienced and determined in this field out of all of us. Ivy was protective of me and each time she was like this it made me fall in love with her even more. I wasn't going to tell her this however, if she didn't feel the same way it would end our friendship. I already destroyed things with my closest friend Mina by having sex with her fiancé in a desperate effort to prove it to my self that I enjoyed the company of men. I wasn't prepared to loose Ivy too.

We turned a corner and came to a halt in front of an iron wrought  door. The entrance to the vampire's lair....

My breath caught in my throat as Ivy pushed the door open and stepped inside. "Be careful and at the slightest sign of danger, get yourselves out of here." She said before taking us off into the shadows, a knife in her hand.

We trailed down endless gloomy corridors before coming to yet another door. I watched Ivy tensely push it open before she gasped and pushed me back. Peering round from behind her I saw a mass of vampires, all swarming round the lifeless corpse of a young man. "CRASH!" A vampire lunged at us, running as fast as he could. With a cry of outrage Ivy launched herself at him. They thrashed about on the floor for several minutes, fighting before Ivy stabbed him hard, driving her knife deep into his heart. I bit my lip worriedly, screwing my face up. The vampire dropped to the floor, dead. "Thank god." Ivy muttered, carefully wiping her knife before getting up. "Are you ok?" I gasped, seeing the blood tricking down her neck.
"I'm fine." Ivy insisted before her eyes rolled back into her head and she passed out, falling lightly into my outstretched arms. "Ivy!" I yelped before lifting her up and looking around in panic. "Vanessa we need to get her back home immediately. She's loosing blood. Come on!" Ethan yelled. "Ok but I think we need to run." I said, looking down at Ivy's black shirt which was already much darker with blood.

~Time skip to Vanessa and Ivy's house~

I carefully laid Ivy down on the sofa before turning to Ethan "Get a poker from by the fire and heat it up. We need to cauterise the wound." I instructed before pressing my hands hard on Ivy's neck. "Sir Malcom could you get me a cloth or something? I need to put pressure on her neck and my hands aren't going to work for much longer with the way she's bleeding."
"Yes, of course." He replied before rushing off in the direction of the kitchen. "Is the poker hot enough yet Ethan?" I asked.
"Almost, it needs to be glowing red, right?"
"Yes." I replied. Sir Malcom shot back in with a worn cloth in his hands, quickly throwing it to me. I grabbed it and pressed down hard on Ivy's neck. "Come on Ivy" I murmured. "Pull through for me." I looked at her chest which was still rising and falling however her breathing was getting lighter and more ragged. I tried not to panic. "Ethan?" I asked, attempting to keep calm. "It's ready now." He answered, tossing the poker to me. I caught it, quickly removed the rag from her neck and pressed the poker onto it instead. With a gasping breath, Ivy bolted upright. I put the poker down before hugging her hard, unable to disguise my relief and joy. Ivy looked startled for a moment before hugging me back. "You saved my life. Thank you." She said quietly, blushing.
"And you saved mine as well as risking yours for me. I can't thank you enough." I knew Ethan and Sir Malcom were watching but I didn't care. I hugged her hard again. "Do you think you can stand?" I asked her.
"Yes I can." She replied before getting up, swaying slightly. "Here." I said, putting my arm around her shoulder, supporting her before taking her upstairs to my room. "Come on, get changed and then into bed Ivy you need to rest and get some sleep if you want to heal quickly."
"But this is your room." She said, looking bewildered. "I know but I'm not going to let you out of my sight until you are completely better." I insisted before handing her one of my night dresses and retrieving my other one, quickly pulling it on looking away whilst Ivy put hers on too. Ivy clambered into bed and I slid in beside her, blowing out my candle as I went. She curled into my chest and I put my arms around her before she fell into a deep sleep. It wasn't long before I fell asleep too.

~The next morning~

I woke up and found myself with my arms still around Ivy. Ivy herself was in the exact same position as the night before except there was now a small smile on her face. Each time I looked at her I found myself falling in love with her even more.
