Cursed
Introduction

His nerves spiked as she drew a thoughtful breath, those calculating eyes surveying his. "We do need someone..." She trailed. He felt the smallest sliver of hope warming his stomach, but he kept it contained. He couldn't get carried away, not again. If he failed this job, they'd get rid of him, they had to- it was law. She lent back in her chair, flipping through files before presenting a standard yellow folder. She placed it face down, shielding the name of the innocent. "He can't know about the curse, he can't trigger it."
Sebastian nodded, shoving aside his doubts. He needed this job. "I'll take it,"
Her eyes bore into his, complete and utter concern swimming beneath those all too familiar iris', "If you accept this mission..."
He drew a breath, nodding to her once in understanding, "I accept." She stared at him for a few moments before shoving the file towards him. The name 'Quito Knight' sprawled across the tab in a formal and confident font. He gazed at the writing long enough to recognize it as hers, and date the script back to the 1900's. She'd really been around a long time. Looking up, he placed his hand palm down over the file, determination ringing throughout his tone, "I, Sebastian Mills, accept full responsibility over the humanity of Quito Knight." The familiar feel of the binding contract stung his soul, ripping at one of his countless lives, and sucking the blood from his veins.
After the stinging ceased, he removed his hand to find 'SM' already etched across the file. The binding was complete, and there was no way of going back. He could only stare at the folder. His last chance.. His shoulders tensed under the pressure and he looked up for support, only to find Cole staring at him with sad eyes. Eyes that practically begged: Don't make us kill you.
The door squeaked behind him, and he didn't have to look to know it was her partner in crime- his elder and superior, not that he'd ever accept either title. "Autumn, did- Why does he have a case?"
Autumn's eyes snapped to her husands, her previous emotions slowly fading, "It's what he wanted," She stated simply. Sebastian didn't dare turn around, knowing full well what Ezra was thinking.
"What is wrong with you?!" He snapped, causing Sebastian to flinch and Autumn to rise from her seat.
"Whatever you had to say can wait." The door slammed behind him, but Sebastian still didn't move, his eyes zeroed in on the file. He'd just signed his soul... Autumn sat down, lacing her fingers over her desk and forcing a smile, "I'm sorry about that..."
Sebastian merely shrugged, tracing his thumb over his drying blood.
No pressure....

He pursed his lips, eyes drifting to the bar tender as he spun the bottle in his hands, showing off for the giggling college girl before him. Sebastian rolled his eyes, she was waisting her time. The guy was gay.
“Dude!” He straightened at his colleagues voice, eyes snapping to his disapproving ones. “You know what’ll happen when Cole finds out.” Sebastian ground his jaw, aligning the pool stick with the cue ball and making a perfect shot- three balls falling in various holes. He didn’t unleash the snappy comeback that lingered on his tongue, but instead, flashed a dazzling smile at the waitress who delivered his drink. She blushed and hurried away, hips swaying from side to side. Unfortunately for her, that’s not the type of thing he was into. Sebastian moved to the other side of the pool table, raising a brow when his friend refused to move. “You’re in over your head.”
Sebastian rolled his eyes, shoving the fully grown man from his path. He took his aim, and prepared to shoot, only to be thrown from his feet. His spine split a nearby table with a sickening crack and he lurched to his feet- vision going red, senses zeroing on his opponent. Peter stood in Sebastian’s previous place, a shit-ass smirk playing at his lips as he stared down his friend and colleague of three hundred plus years. Sebastian didn’t think twice. He launched himself across the bar and tackled the bitch, strattling him and sending his fist flying into the fuck head’s jaw.
Peter didn’t take kindly to being challenged- none of them did. He snarled, lip raising and pupils dilating at the threat. Within seconds, he was on top of Sebastian, one hand encircling his throat. The boy’s had been together for far too long, both of them releasing and cocking their guns in unison. Each stopping when they felt the other’s barrel against their temple. They breathed at the same time, adrenaline dying down as their heart beats regulated. Still, none of them moved. They couldn’t show weakness- not in their line of business.
It took longer than it should’ve for Sebastian’s senses to come crashing back. He tensed at how intense the bar had become. Everyone was watching, crowding around screaming, "Fight! Fight! Fight!" Fucking drunks.
Knowing shoving Pete would be a fatal move, Sebastian relented, bringing his gun from his friend's head and returning it to it's former spot. Pete’s eyes flashed with disgust at his opponents surrender, but he swallowed his rage. Wiping his features clean and rolling off Sebastian. The men stood to their feet, each taking a moment to swipe the dust off their clothes before facing their enraged audience.
Sebastian ignored their obscene 'boo'ing, focusing on one person in particular, and as much as he wanted to look away and forget he just blew his cover- he knew Quito would see him, and recognize him, and probably approach him in the future.
Pete took a bold step forward, shoving the bickering crowd hastily from his path. Sebastian jerked back to reality, tearing his eyes from the boy’s and following his friend- both of them knowing full well what deep waters awaited.
Two months in, and he'd already sabotaged his last chance.

For those of you that have read the 'Her' books, you know all about the Cole's and the curse and all that good stuff. This book takes place centuries after 'Red'- I think we're in the 800,000's now... But I'm too lazy to write anything futuristic-y, so it's rather modern. Oh well.
I might turn this into a series too. I don't know, just depends how it ends. On the side here you'll find the song Deadlihood by Sixx:AM, it's what gave me the idea for this book. Because I'm so freaking awesome. But, so's this song (and band, if we're being honest). So go check 'er out! She's beautiful!!! T.T
Vote, comment, and add to your reading list. Because I've got big plans for these guys!(;
Thanks,
