The face you show the world outside

Is strong, with thoughts profound

But that is not the life you live

When no one is around

You think you're weak behind your walls

For choices that you made

Because in face of strong abuse

For much too long you stayed

You've thought at times that you deserved

That load of crap you got

You couldn't be more wrong in that

Believe me, you did not

No one should have to bear the list

Of cold abuse you did

It says a lot about your strength

You stopped a years long skid

You see yourself inside your walls

As powerless and scared

In memory of the time you spent

When his heart had been bared

You do not know how close you've grown

To your mask projection

But you've not lost the hope in trust

After sound inspection

There is that one who gives you ear

And doesn't judge at all

Who has your back in time of need

Most any time you call

Soon you'll see the one inside

Will match the mask you show

The window dressing then won't hide

But frame the you I know
