Hey! Just a side note before I begin.... Yes, I'm going to start doing the proper spacing, & YES I am just now uploading a second chapter. It's a bit slow right now. Just wait for now & let me know what you're thinking!

                                                                  **************************

Three quick raps on the door notified us that they were here. I have been waiting all day for the guards to come. The guards. Here. Now. Eight o'clock on the dot. I gritt my teeth as my mom opens the door. My father can't be here, even on such an extravagant occasion. He has to work.

Two rather muscular men dressed in a black uniform walk in, a stoic expression on their face. I hold back hysteria, slightly because I am frightened out of my pants and slightly because they remind me of the old movies Men in Black.

"Hello" one of them greets, reaching his hand out to my mom. "I'm Maxwell Jordan. This is Caden Preacher."

My mom takes his hand, "Welcome, truly. This is my daughter Neccia."

I give Maxwell and Caden a head nod, too nervous to say anything.

"I'm sure you know what we will be discussing today." Max says gruffly.

I give him another nod.

My mother gracefully sweeps her arm, showing the way to the living room, "Please, do come sit."

We all pile into the living room and settle on the soft couches. Max shifts his gaze to Caden and then to me as he starts, "So. The benefits. Or would you like us to start with the Non-benefits?"

They stare at me until I answer, "Non-benefits?"

He inhales slowly and begins, "It's pretty simple. Once you choose, you can't go back. Once you choose, you officially become a native resident to the area."

Caden stares long and hard at me, his piercing blue eyes causing me to slide down on the couch guiltily, "The benefits are you'll be so happy with what you chose you won't even care."

I stare right back, "Shouldn't you be telling me what my life will be like when I choose?"

"I was getting there, princess." Caden says coldly. I shudder. Who were these men to act as though this wasn't the most important moment of my life? One wrong choice and I could be miserable forever. I personally don't know if the people living in Carma are happy. What if they secretly hated being, as Ana would say, fake?

Not that I am thinking about choosing Carma over my hometown... I am totally thinking about choosing Carma over my hometown. Who am I to kid?

Yet deep inside I am torn. There has to be a way to choose both. To be both beautiful and in love.

I tune the two men out, nothing they say now can faze me. I know what I want to do. But why didn't I think about it before? It was clear, simple. For what if there was another way? I can't believe that I lost sleep over something as silly as this.

"Is that clear?" Caden asks.

I shake my head, not once leaving his gaze, "Perfectly."

He and Max get up, "Good. You have twenty-four hours to decide."

"Unless you've already made a decision?" Caden inquires, seeing the look in my eye.

I play innocent, "No, I have no idea yet. Thank you so much for stopping by today."

He glares at me, as if he knows that I'm lying. Ha, as if he knows anything that is going through my mind right now. I give him a smirk because I can feel the burning in his eyes to know what I'm thinking. But instead, he turns and follows Max out the door.
