Never Forget Me

As you feel the salty breeze on your face, remember how I used to jump, unyieldingly, into the warm ocean wasters. Remember how I used to call you in after me, Quietly, sweetly, until finally, you could not stand to see me whine any longer.

As you smell the salt, think of the tears spent over random things, dumb things. Remember how I used to suddenly exclaim: "What's wrong with me? Why can't I be as perfect as you?" Remember how I cooed after all that you did, all that you said.

As you walk by the shore barefoot, remember how we used to spend our days wandering down the beach, dreaming of the day that we would build a family, own a mansion. Remember all the promises made. Made but never fulfilled.

As you slowly make your way to the house, remember how I always got upset, never wanting to leave your side. Remember how excited I was, as soon as I saw your face.

As you slip into Heaven, remember me. Remember how much I love you.
