Bodil's POV

I hummed to myself as I picked apples to sell. Our family wasn't the richest but we did our best to get as much money as we could.

We would steal money but our family decided not to. However, that choice might be our only option.

A year earlier, Seto had been kidnapped and drugged with very powerful chemicals and drugs. When we got Seto back a month earlier but he wasn't the healthy boy we knew.

After we got him back, Seto would get fevers frequently. Sometimes the fevers would be really high and not be able to eat. There would be times that he wouldn't be able to talk or open his eyes. It hurts him a lot but he always tries to stay positive.

We've taken him to the doctor but he says he can't help since the things used on him are. The doctor said what could have helped would be a crystal eye from a creator gem. Sadly, they died a long time ago.

To pay for Seto's treatment is the little money we have. The doctor said if we can't pay for any more treatments then they can't help Seto anymore.

I sighed lightly as I finished picking and headed home. Ty had taken Seto to the doctor again to see if they could get another treatment. Lately, Seto has been experiencing strange things. He would randomly have moments that he could use his magic that he keeps locked up or his personality would change. As if he wasn't Seto for a second.

I reached the small brick house as the sun was high in the sky. I let myself in and placed the basket of apples on the table, locking the door after entering the house. I yawned lightly and looked around to see if Seto may have dropped something. I smiled as I saw that he managed to not break anything.

I went to Seto's room and cleaned up any things that mom may have dropped. To know who dropped what, our dad put a spell on us so if we drop something and we blame someone else, the object would turn to the color of our souls. Our soul colors were decided by our father. Father and Seto are the only ones who can do full magic spells, the rest could only do a bit without passing out.

As I cleaned, I heard a light thumping sounds. At first, it was quiet and far away but as time passed, they got closer, louder, and unsettling. Even if it didn't feel right, I still continued with my daily chores.

After a while, the thumping stopped. I was glad that it stopped but before I could relax, a knock came from the back door. I knew it wasn't anyone in my family because they had a key to open the front door. The knocks were violent yet weak.

Me being the helpful and kind person, I opened the door and looked who it was.

On the backyard porch lay a weak looking boy. They boy had soft bouncy curly chocolate colored brown hair, pale skin, as pale as the low light of the moon. His eyes were hidden behind a dark pair of shades. He wore an oversized hoodie that was half black on his right side and half white on his left. He had plain gray pants with a black shoe on his right and a white on his left.

He murmured something before passing out.
