~ Prologue ~
.
I spent nights walking around the city's abandoned streets, sometimes without being seen. The only company that I ever had was the dull moon and the creatures of the night that I sometimes felt lurking behind me. I found a slick comfort in being alone. I snuck out every night when I couldn't sleep for hours just walking the empty streets lined with street lamps that reflected the black tar covering the darkened streets. Every once in a while I would see a glimpse of headlights and watch the cars speed by as if they had somewhere to be this last at night.Sometimes I find myself blankly staring into the distance and lose myself in the darkness. I'd begin to hear the voices echoing in my head. Only getting louder than the noises of the night. Only making me feel more vulnerable then I knew I was. That's when I take a deep breath of the night air and continue walking.
My thoughts only wandering farther away from home. Farther than I was away from there. Carrying the last bit of courage I had left, I found myself scurrying faster. My thoughts may have been far but my mind was right in my still developing skull. It was then I reached my final destination.
