Chapter 3
It's been three days since Christy's arrival in the Tantalascar tribe. Nightingale was nowhere in sight and often days, Christy spent her time gazing out the large window situated in her luxurious room in the manor. There was a balcony as well alright, but alas the solace doesn't want to exit her bones. She hasn't left her room since coming here, a maid dutifully and quietly brought her dishes full of food three times a day.
She was still reeling. And while a queen should have engaged and made strategies for her future kingdom, she was in a stupor. However, her deteriorating condition was no secret to her, nor was the newfound alienated reputation. She promised herself to get involved with the new pack, they were eager to coddle their newest member who would stand by their king. Even though the King refused to ask about her well being. He was a busy man indeed, she thought bitterly.
She'd get attached as their kin, clan works like that if you have the intention.
Her mind reminiscing the last encounter with Nightingale, they had to leave early immediately after the shocking encounter. Alpha Nightingale's most trusted guards and warriors all dressed in suit, kept a keen eye on the opposition pack, ready to spring if situation called for it. Everyone understood the severity of the situation they were in. But her mate was immune, leisurely waiting by the car talking with his beta in his quiet low timbre voice. While the others were coiled tight, stiff, ready to defend the entity running their pack.
It was all bizarre, Christy barely went through the motions of saying goodbyes. There was a hell lot of pain and smog refusing to dissipate. Her father didn't show up to say goodbye, nor did her mother. Too humiliated and angry with her decision, unable to accept it even though they knew what she was saying was valid. Her siblings were there for condolences, she'd never would have thought they would be teary eyed with their separation from each other. Her little, devil of a sister was crying. It shattered her heart into smithereens.
The king kept his distance but she felt his watchful gaze all day long from the shadows, even when he wasn't physically there. She shuddered with the thought, he was dangerous force not to be reckoned with. His presence was in every corner of his pack, his members were very aware of the fact.
She's been having night terrors for the past three days, weird strange dreams, morbid feeling of being chased that have her lying awake till dawn. She can often feel tremors running through her veins due to the loss incurred from her birth pack. It was all so surreal, she felt exhausted to her bones.
The sound of knocking snapped her out of her thoughts. The door opened slowly revealing her personal maid, she was sweet and timid. Christy already felt protectiveness for her, it was how the pack works. You take care of your weak members providing them with comfort, but Christy was so self absorbed in self pity.
She realized she hasn't said a word to anyone since coming here. What happened was their king's fault, his pack was innocent and mighty. What rumors must've been surrounding about her? She realized they may not even know what transpired in her pack. She was fetched to her room in the dark of the night. However, the pack knows their queen has arrived, she could feel the nervous hum, the energy in the air, in her mind.
The maid bowed low, " good morning, Luna" she probably doesn't even expect an answer with the way things have been going these past few days.
"Good morning ..." she replied smiling. The maid looked up surprised while strolling in the trolley full of breakfast.
"Rose, Luna. I'm called Rose" she smiled timidly, blushing furiously. Christy was immediately enraptured, smiling widely.
"Rose, will you be joining me for breakfast? I insist " again she looked startled looking as if she said something bizarre.
