"Why are you like this?"

The rain pittered against the window of Tom's room, and the male turned in his bed away from the noise. He grumbled slightly before waking up as a crash of thunder hit something in the distance. Slightly dazed, he looked around until he adjusted to the dark and saw a slumped figure on a bed on the other side of the room.

   His mood worsened. Tord.

He stared for another second before turning away again. He forced the blanket to cover him again, and curled up into a tiny ball. Another flash of light made him blink, but he tried to ignore it.

But now that he was awake, thoughts spiraled in his head. He remembered what had happened earlier that night, and he scowled into his oversized kitten shirt.

Tord thought he was so funny, making Tom look stupid like that. Tom had just been reaching for the remote, and that idiot had to point him out in front of Matt and Edd. He remembered the familiar taunt Tord always used. "Classic, stupid Tom!"

He didn't even understand what was stupid about that. Reaching for the remote wasn't even remotely funny. But it was after when he realized that that remote had been for the air conditioner, and that Tord held the TV remote in his hand. There was a smirk on his face as he tossed it to Tom.

Tom, of course, had let it fall to the floor. His black eyes had narrowed, and he hadn't reached down to grab the remote. Even when the batteries had fallen out from the impact.

Instead, he had turned slowly and walked calmly to his room. He had closed the door quietly and locked it, making sure no one could come in.

Another flash of lightning jarred him back to reality. Now, he could hear the mutters and grumbles of the other person in the room. Tom tried to look like he was asleep, not wanting to confront Tord this late at night.

"Ah....dammit..." Tom heard a thump. Probably one of the stupid hentai books of his, he thought bitterly. He had no idea why Edd and Matt liked Tord so much. Sure, he was more than attractive, with his grey eyes always lit in humor and that devious grin, but-

Wait. Tom froze slightly, feeling unnerved. Did that thought just go through his head? Why the hell would he even think of Tord like that, even for a second? He hugged his pillow to his chest, trying to calm his racketing heart. For that moment, he was sure that Tord could hear his thoughts, know what he was thinking about him. His mouth went dry slightly.

It was okay. Just go to sleep. Tom rested his head on the pillow, rapping his arms around it. He sighed slightly, his forehead barely grazing the pillow. The wind outside howled.

"Tom. Tom, I know you're awake." A much too loud voice made him snap up. "Get up, Thomas."

"Well, I'm up NOW." Tom turned to glare, his earlier nervousness completely gone. "What the hell do you want?"

   "I don't know. I'm bored, Tom."

   "Okay,"

Tord stared at him for a long time. "Okay," he finally asked, his voice having a slight edge to it. "I see being friendly isn't getting anywhere."

"You call that friendly?" Tom rolled his black eyes, his voice monotone as usual. "Work on that act of yours."

Tord's face hardened. "Why do I even try with you-" He flopped onto his bed again, his belly on the mattress.

"That's you trying?" Tom widened his eyes. "Sad,"

"You must know a lot about sad, Thomas." Tord's voice was bored. "You must be sad all the time."
