KC's POV
I strutted my way down the halls of the school, but it certainly was not a walk of confidence. My head was hung low, just as it usually was, and my bright pink underarmour backpack was still tightly strapped onto me. Dressed in my black uniform top, the shirt sleeves with a hypnotizing grayish colored design of lines, the number 94 on my left one, and a cardinal sat upon my breast, I began to head towards the front door of the school. Formal black dress pants held the tucked in top, and a pair of simple black lace and gold flats covered my feet. I held an umbrella above my head, not wanting to smear my darker-set makeup, or get my bags wet. My feet carried me through the heavily-falling rain out to my father's car, where annoying heavy metal was blaring as I tossed my bags onto the backseat. I then made my way around and climbed into the front seat, buckling up and staying very quiet as he began to pull out of the parking lot.
"You nervous?" He asked as he turned down the radio just a bit.
"Of course I am. It's my first time ever bowling for high school. Even if during varsity matches I am just a sub, it's still terrifying," I snapped at him.
My father and I didn't get along very well at all. He was rude, arogent, lazy, and just a drunken asshole. And even if our personalities butt-heads fairly intensely, no one could deny how similarly we looked. Our facial structures were quite similar, as well as our literally shitty eyes. He was about 5'10, his hair the same color as mine, but cut into a dumbass quiff. He was wearing a childish graphic tee to show off how much he loved a game off of the PlayStation, and he paired it with sweatpants, to show how much he just didn't care to dress decently if he didn't have to work. And he hardcore abused his vacation time, and the fact that his boss lived on the other side of the country.
"Don't you yell at me young lady".
I sighed, "I'm sorry, I just have a lot on my mind".
Over the last three weeks, my life had been a roller coaster. Calvin was driving me absolutely crazy. We talked every single day at practice, even if it was just a simple hello. We had grown closer and closer, but yet we were still so far apart. All I wanted was to get to know him, to talk to him more and more and to learn every little thing about him. He was so fascinating and he never ceased to keep me interested. I had learned that he had an older and a younger sister, that he was like me and in mostly advanced courses, that he played an instrument in marching band, and so many other things about him. We had shared so many stories about each other and we had learned so much. We even began to text and FaceTime nightly, just for the hell of it. If I had a bad day, he would never let me go to sleep until he saw a smile appear on my face through the camera. He was such a sweet guy, and all I wanted was more of him.
"I don't give a shit if you have a lot on your mind. You always say that you have a lo going on, that you're sad, that you're stressed, that you have no friends, blah blah blah! Just get your head out of your ass and stop complaining," he grumbled at her before turning the music back up as he pulled up to the exit ramp that lead to the bowling alley.
I just sighed and turned my head to stare out the window, watching the rain as he fell down the glass. I ran my fingers through mu hair and then rested my hands in my lap, ignoring how they shook just slightly against herself. I rarely ever complained to my parents. Normally, i would just lie in bed and write in my journal, or write stories on wattpad, or draw, or i would just do something to occupy herself. Sometimes I'd just go out and walk to the nearby park, sitting on the swings for a bit and just trying to clear my mind. Even when I'd have a good day, I would still often be alone at night unless i was with the girls. But that was before i started talking to Cal. Now, I would spend hours talking to Katie, kayla, Al, or Maddie, and even more time with Calvin. Twe were inseparable and no one could break them apart. Even if we were just friends, anyone walking by is would assume it was something more.
