"Mommmyy!" I heard my four year old son, Dominic, cried out. I looked up and saw him sitting on the couch.
"What," I ask while making him a PBJ.
"Can you give me the remote?" He ask. I looked around and saw the remote on the TV stand.
"I know you did not just ask me to get the remote for you. You better get choy ass up or watch that paid program shit," I told him.
"But..but,"
"Don't but me, get the remote yo self or I'm gon eat your sandwich," I said. He got up real quick, my baby loves food. Just like his momma. I looked around my apartment.
"I know I can do better," I told myself quietly. There were bugs crawling, water linking, and a punch of rat holes. It's 3 pm but looks like 9 pm because there's not much windows. It was the cheapest apartment I can find, specifically since I'm a single parent. I have 3 jobs that barely pay me anything, all just to provide for my baby. Everything I do is for Dominic. I'm a drink maker at Wawa, waitress at Dave n Busters, and a part time babysitter. But of course, I go to their house instead when ever someone needs a babysitter.
His father..well his father doesn't even know he's a father. He got me pregnant at the age of 16. My life was so fucked up, being pregnant made it worst. Once I found out, I ran away from South Carolina to Florida and took care of Dominic and myself alone because that's all I got. I just needed to start all over. My aunt didn't give one fuck about me, shit she didn't even bother to look for me. Dominic father was a dick, I bet he didn't give one fuck about me either. We loved each other a lot but it was just that teenage bullshit. The only person that I need in my life is the people giving me money and my Dominic. End of it.
"Can we go to the park today?" Dominic ask. He grabbed the remote and came into the kitchen with me.
"We went yesterday, why you wanna go again?" I ask annoyed.
"We went yesterday, why you wanna go again," he mocked me. I got a spoon full of jelly and flicked it at him landing on his forehead.
"We're gonna go to Keith place first and get NaeNae then we can go to the park while Keith goes to practice," I told him
"YAY I WANNA SEE KEITH," He cheered. Keith is like a father to Dominic and like a brother to me. Not bestfriend, brother. We met when I picked up Domo at school. He embarrassed me, of course, and I, of course, embarrassed him back. Keith came up to Domo and they just had a moment.
"Ite, go put yo shoes on," I told him, "O BRING EMERGENCY BAG!" I yelled. He came back with the bag and my keys and I laughed. I grabbed my keys and he hold his arms up.
"Negro you 4 years old, walk on your feet," I said. He grunted and I rolled my eyes. So annoying. We walked downstairs and walked to the nearest bus stop. The bus came and drove us to Keith's apartment. Once we got there, Dominic was knocked out so I had to hold him and the bags.
I walked to the elevator and went to floor three. He so lucky his apartment got elevators. I'm on floor five so bout time I get to my room, I'm full blown sweatin'. We got to his door and knocked and of course he answers the door half way naked.
"Getting tired of you opening the door with nothing but your damn draws," I told him while walking in.
"Shut up. You know you like this view," he said flexing. I gave him a disgusted look and layed Dominic down on the couch. "Nae in her room knocked the fuck out. Ima go get ready," he told me. I nodded my head and sat beside Dominic on the couch while cutting the TV on. Keith's place is so much better. He's goes to Florida State University, the fact that he take cares of his little sister and also plays football while getting education is just so amazing to me like, that's husband material. But I don't see Derrick in that way, if I ever date him just shoot me cause that's like dating my brother.
I turn the channel from football to cartoons. It's sad how I'm 20 years old watching cartoons and actually enjoy it. It's all Dominic's fault.
"Ight, if I were you, I'll wake up Nae in like 30 minutes unless she going to not wake up until 8 and I am not about to deal with her all night. You know where everything is at, I'm out," Keith said coming from the hallway making his way to me. He kiss my forehead and then kissed Dominic's.
"Have fun, don't break anything," I told him.
"I can't promise that," He said while walking out the door. Well, today is going to be pretty boring. I should be out there making money but he needed me to watch Nae and I will always got his back since he always got mine.
