Once there was a little girl. Her name was Lily. One day, Lily
was walking around inside her mansion, alone with only a toy doll she always carried around with her. "What are we going to do today Jamie?" She said, bringing the doll to her ear like it would whisper in her ear. She giggled before bringing the doll in front of her face and smiling at it, staring at its button eyes. "Lily! Come down for lunch! Your food is ready!" Said a voice from downstairs. "Okay Marley!" Lily said, running down to where she had her meals. Marley was the young girls maid. "Here's your lunch, mistress." Marley said, setting down a fancy lobster meal. "Thank you, Marley. Please don't call me mistress, you know I don't like that. It reminds me of mother." Lily said, looking down at her meal. "Of course, ma'am, I'll call you Lily more often if you'd like? I know how hard it is for you, especially at the young age of six." Marley set her hand on Lily's back, gently rubbing it to keep her calm. "Y-yes, Marley, please just call me Lily." Lily sighed and began to eat. Marley smiled at Lily thinking she was one of the most gorgeous girls in the world. After Lily was done eating, she stood up from the table and looked at Marley. "I'm going to go play outside with Jamie." She said, picking up Jamie. "Alright but, watch out for the gardener. He's out mowing the yard today." Marley said, watching Lily go outside. She began cleaning the mansion after Lily was outside. Lily looked at Jamie and said once more, "what are we going to do today Jamie?" She brought Jamie up to her ear, giggled and said "okay, let's go do that!" Lily ran through the garden and saw the gardener. "Hey Isaac!" She said with a giggle. Isaac was about to start up the lawn mower when he heard her. "Oh, hey Lily. What are you and Jamie up to today?" He said, pointing at Jamie and smiled. "We're going to go play out here in the garden. I'll try to stay out of your way and keep Jamie in check!" She said back with a giggle. "Oh, uh, alright. Wouldn't want to get hurt, now would we?" He said concerned but also relieved that she would try to stay out of the way. "Nope!" She said before running off, laughing with Jamie in hand. Isaac watched her run off and chuckled before going back to his job. Lily stopped running when she was a good distance away from where Isaac was working. "Hm. What is there to do in this part of the garden? Jamie? You got any ideas?" She brought the doll up to her ear and then brought it in front of her face. "Oh no, Jamie. We can't go ask if Isaac would like to play hide and seek with us." She brought the doll up to her ear again before bringing it back to being in front of her face. "I should go ask Marley if she'd like to?" Lily shrugged. "I don't know if I should. What if she's too busy to play?" Again, the doll was brought up to her ear and then brought in front of her face. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask." With that, she ran to the mansion to go find Marley. While running back to the mansion, she saw Isaac away at work. He looked in her direction and waved at her. She waved back and continued running. When she finally gotten to the mansion she was panting a tiny bit. Opening the door she was at, she called for Marley. "Marley! Where are you?" She said, she looked down at the hand that she usually carried Jamie around in. Jamie wasn't there and wasn't in her other hand either. "Marley? I lost Jamie!" She called out. No answer came from Marley. Lily needed to find Marley, she needed to also find Jamie. She walked through the halls of the mansion calling for Marley but never getting an answer from her. She ended up in the kitchen somehow. "I'm in the kitchen? How did that happen?" Lily said to herself and realized she was thirsty. "Marley?" She tried calling for her maid again. Still no answer. Lily was tired of not being able to find her maid and wanted something to drink as well. "Marley! I need something to drink!" She said, still recieving no answer. "I guess I gotta do stuff on my own." Lily went over to a cabinet that she thought the cups were in. The cabinet was hanging over a counter that had a knife laying around on it. Unknowingly, Lily tried to reach the cabinet abd fell, hitting the knife, making it go into the air. The knife went into her leg after she hit the ground and she let out a painful scream that could be heard through the whooe mansion. In pain and crying Lily screamed "Marley! Marley! Where are you Marley?" Marley heard the screaming and ran to the screams. "Marley!" Lily cried out, hoping she could hear her cries and screams of pain. Marley appeared in the doorway of the kitchen and gasped seeing Lily on the floor with a knige in her leg. "Lily!" She screamed, running up to her. "W-what happened?!" She said, looking at the knife in Lily's leg. Lily couldn't talk, she was crying and screaming out in pain to even be able to talk. Marley didn't want to move the knife, she abhored the idea. She got up and rang a bell that contacted the gardener. Isaac heard the bell and went up to the mansion and opened the door. He heard the cries and screams and runs to where Lily and Marley are in the kitchen. He let out a scream and yelled at Marley to call a doctor. After Marley had gotten up to call the doctor, Isaac ran over to Lily to try and calm her down. After ten minutes Lily stopped crying and screaming and became totally distracted by Isaac, who found fun in distracting Lily currently. He seemed to make her laugh, despite the immense pain she felt from the knife in her leg. Marley came back into the kitchen with a doctor, hearing laughter. They both walked up to Isaac and Lily and the doctor looked at Lily's leg and motioned for Marley to come out of the room with him. The both left the room and talked in hushed tones. The only thing Isaac and Lily could hear was a couple goodbyes and the door closing. Marley went back into the kitchen and sighed. "They're going to bring an ambulance around here to come get Lily." She said looking at Isaac. Isaac looked up at Marley and nodded. "But, wouldn't they bring one while the doctor was here?" He asked her, clearly confused. She shook her head at him and mouthed that she would tell him later. He simply shrugged and went back to distracting Lily from the pain. Shortly after Isaac went back to distracting Lily, the ambulance came and picked them up, taking them to the hospital. Once at the hospital, they raced Lily into a surgery room and had Marley and Isaac sit out in the waiting room, where they talked and slowly became nervous as the hours passed by. "How long is this going to take, again?" Isaac said, standing up, beginning to pace near his and Marley's seats. "Calm down, Isaac. The doctors said a few hours." She said, sighing. "But, why so long?! Weren't they just going to take the knife out of her leg?" He said, impatience showing in his voice and on his face. "It's more serious than that." She said, calmly, to try and calm him down a little. "W-what? What are they doing to her then? Why weren't her nor I told what they were going to do?" He said a little frantic. "They didn't want to freak Lily out before they took her back there. They have to cut her leg off. They knife looked like it would stop the movement in her leg completely." She said, standing up to sit Isaac down in his chair again. He resisted a little but, sat down anyways, seeing no use in trying to fight to stay standing. They had both waited for hours, getting more and more nervous as each hour ticked by. After what felt like forever, but was actually only four hours, a doctor came out and brought them into the recovery room, where Lily was sleeping peacefully. Isaac walked up to Lily's bed and sat down in a chair next to it, taking her small hand into his much larger hand, waiting for her to awaken. "I wonder how much anesthesia they had to use for her until she finally calmed down and went under." Marley said, looking over at a nurse. "I don't know but, I hope she wakes up soon. We still need to know what made this happen." Isaac said, sighing and staring at Lily, tears forming in his eyes. "Hey, stay strong, alright? Lily shouldn't wake up to you crying." She said, nudging his shoulder. "You're right. She doesnt deserve to see either of us crying." He said, wiping away his tears with his free hand. Marley looked over at Lily and looked confused. "That's weird. Where's Jamie? She walked over to Lily, seeing if maybe Lily had her doll in her arms or near her. Isaac, did you see Jamie outside when you had to come up to the mansion?" Isaac looked at her as she said that. "Not that I could see. I was in such a rush I didn't notice much."He replied, looking over at Lily, seeing her breathe steadily. Lily moves a little, like she was going to wake up. "She might wake up soon, Marley. She's starting to stir." Isaac looked at Marley before looking at Lily again, waiting for her to awaken. Marley looked at Lily also and waited for her to get up. They waited silently as she slowly woke up. She opened her eyes slowly and quietly. They both smiled at her as she looked around after her fully opened. "Hi, Lily. Glad to see you're finally awake." Says a lady calmly and some what quietly. Lily looked at the lady confused. "I'm your nurse. My name's Nicki." Nicki said, smiling at all of them. "Hi Nicki." Isaac and Marley said simultaneously. Lily only looked around like a shy little girl. "Sorry for our Lily not speaking, she just woke up." Marley said, a little nervous. "Oh, it's perfectly fine. I realized this after coming over here to introduce myself." Nicki smiled, walking up to the end of the bed. "Now", she continued, "Lily will need to rest up for a few days. She might feel some slight pain but, that's to be expected. Just give her, her prescribed medicine and everything should be fine. Don't let her go do stuff on her own for a few weeks. If you're wondering about a wheelchair, she'll be getting one, free of everything due to her status of daily living. She has such a high status, it's surprising if she even has to pay for things." Marley nodded at Nicki and Lily looked from Isaac to Marley and then at Nicki and then back at Isaac She brought her hand up to Isaac s sleeve and tugged at it and motioned for him to come closer to her face. "What is it Lily?" Isaac said as he leaned his head closer to her. "Jamie, I dropped her outside somewhere. I don't know where." She whispered in his ear and he moved his head and looked at her. "Alright, Lily, I'll look around after we get back." He smiled at her and she smiled back. "We'll be sending you back to your comfortable home in a few hours. We don't want you to become uncomfortable here." Nicki smiled directly at Lily. "Thank you, Nicki. We appreciate the kindness of this place and from you." Marley said gratefuly. "Oh, it's no big deal! Really, uhm, dont thank me. It's my job to help those that need it. It's thanks enough to be able to do just that." Nicki blushed a little, smiling. "I should go get all the paper work and stuff done so you guys can leave in a few hours." Nicki left after saying that, not coming back until two hours had passed by. "Alright, you guys are all set to go. We have an ambulance to take you back to your home since we know you came by ambulance. Grab Lily and we'll get you all set to leave." Nicki said and escorted them after Isaac picked Lily up. They got into the selected ambulance and gotten back home shortly after. Isaac carried Lily inside and set her down at the table and Marley brought her ice cream. "I'm going to go look for Jamie outside." Isaac said, walking out of the mansion. "Can you tell me how you lost your leg, Lily?" Marley said, looking concerned. Lily told Marley the whole story of house she was looking for marley and that she lost her doll and was thirsty. "I didn't know there was a knife laying there." Lily looked down. Marley was about to say something when there was a knock on the door. "Stay here." She said as she made her way to the door. She answered the door to find a messenger with a letter. "For Miss Lily, ma'am." The messenger said, handing the letter to Marley. "Thank you." She replied, closing the door and returning to Lily. She set the letter down in front of Lily and Lily opened it and read it. "It's an invitation to a boating competition." Lily said, sighing. "Do i have to go? Those are seriously tedious and I never have anyone to play with." She whined. "It's important for someone of your status to go. Hey, they might even have something for you this year." Marlye said, trying to cheer Lily up. "I guess but, it's different this year." Lily sighed, before continuing. "Mother won't be there with us and I only have one leg." Marley nodded and Isaac returned. "I found Jamie, Lily!" He said in a singsong tone. Lily perked up as he gave her doll to her. "Oh! Thank you Isaac! I bet Jamie was really scared, almost as bad as me!" Lily took her doll from Isaac and hugged it tight. Isaac chuckled and noticed the letter. "What's this? An invite to a boating competition?" Isaac said with a look of amusement on his face. "Uh, yea it is, Isaac " She replied. "Sounds like fun! Are you going?" He looked at her. "I don't want to go." She sighed. "Aw! Why not? It seems like so much fun! Don't tell me you find them boring. If that's the case then use your imagination to make it better." Isaac said, trying to sound amused and sad. Lily laughed and said, "alright, I guess you're right, Isaac." Isaac clapped and jumped around like and excited puppy. Marley sighed with relief and mouthed "thank you" to Isaac, who simply nodded in reply and went back to exciting Lily up for the boating competition. "Do you really think they might have games and other kids this year?" Lily exclaimed excitedly. "They might. We won't know until we go. It says it's in a few days on the invitation. That gives you time to pick out an outfit!" Isaac said and both Lily and Marley laughed. "What? What's so funny?" Isaac blushed. Marley went to Lily's side and picked her up. "You are, Isaac." Marley said, picking Lily up, getting ready to carry her to her room. "Oh? Is that so?" He let out a chuckle. "Go get Lily prepared for the boating competition. I need to go get back to work." He said as he started to leave the mansion to go get back to work. "Alright. When will you be done?" Lily said, watching him leave. "I'll try to get done for the day in about four hours, alright?" He said over his shoulder, still walking out of the mansion, almost to the door. "Alright. You think we can play together?" He stopped right in front of the door when she said that. "If you aren't asleep when I finish, then sure. I'm not going to wake you up when you need sleep." Isaac smiled, looking over his shoulder and holding a thumbs up at her. "Okay!" She giggled and Marley carried her off and Isaac went to work in the garden. "We'll pick out the best outfit you have for a boating competition while we wait for Isaac. I'll have to get your dinner ready after you're in your room though. You'll have to eat in your room for a while. Until you have a wheel chair, that is." Marley smiled at Lily and put her in her bed and smiled, tucking her in it. "I shall return shortly with your dinner." Marley did a small bow and left and closed the door behind her, leaving Lily to get some rest and possibly fall asleep for the oncoming night while Marley went to go make the dinner. Lily looked at Jamie and picked the doll up. "What a bore. I have to stay in here a lot of the time now, and so do you, Jamie. What'll we do to pass the time until we can leave this room and explore again? We surely can't have sleepovers because we don't have many friends to play with." Jamie just stared at Lily with button eyes and a sewn on smile. Lily sighed, knowing she wasnt going to get an answer even if she imagined Jamie telling her anything. "We're both out of ideas, I guess. What a shame." She layed the doll down next to her and stared up at the ceiling. Lily sat in complete silence. There wasn't anything for her to do, so what was the point in finding something to do if she basically couldn't do anything to begin with?
