Chapter 2

There was a soft knock on my bedroom door and my eyes fluttered open. "Harry," my mother's sweet voice called softly. I sat up in my bed, stretching as I raised my arms in the air.

A smile crossed my face as the warm rays of sun, shined into my bedroom windows. I turned my head to face my mother. "Good morning Momma, you look beautiful today," I said honestly, as I do everymorning.

She smiled but her eyes showed how tired she was. "Thank you love." she said, walking over to me and kissing my forehead. "Momma did you work another double?" I asked, noticing her scrubs. She nodded in response.

"Yeah, I'm fine." she added when I frowned. "You get dressed while I get breakfast started and tidy up" She finished, getting ready to leave.

"No momma, I will make breakfast and clean. You go rest up." I replied softly, taking her hand and leading her to her room, which was on the opposite side of the house. She smiled at me greatly and nodded, too tired to argue I assume.

I headed back to my room and changed out of my bunny flannel pajama set, folding them neatly before setting them on my dresser. I pulled on a pair of dark skinny jeans and slipped into my hoodie. I looked into the mirror and smiled, picking up the red and pink crown that I had made yesterday.

I nestled the nearly intertwined creation onto my soft brown curls and smiled. Feeling complete, I walked into the small kitchen and began to clean the few dishes that remained.

within the next hour and a half, I had managed to make momma food, and finish cleaning the house. Its not like we have a big house. We live in a small 3 bedroom cottage with 2 bathrooms, one in Mommas room, and one connected between my room and our spare room. we may not have millions of dollars, but all we needed was eachother.

As Momma took a nap, I walked out of the screen door, barefoot as usual. Our house was built on a flat, grassy plot of land. My favorite thing about out little house was the plush green meadow that was a about 8 yards from the house, on a cliff overlooking the driveway and road, with a lot of various colored flowers.

Ever since u could remember we lived here. Momma said dad built this whole cottage from scratch. I never knew him, but he sounded very nice.

I began to gather various shades of my favorite blue flower (I've always been particularly fond of blue.) I sat down in my usual spot and my fingers began to skillfully intertwine and loop the flowers, carefully not wanting to break the stems.

Once satisfied, I smiled and picked a few yellow and purple, deciding to make one for Momma. As I was finishing up Momma's flowercrown, I looked up and saw a car coming down the driveway.

Now we don't usually get visitors, so I got up and ran back to the house, flower crowns in hand (not counting the one still nestled on my hair.) I was surprised to see my mother awake and cooking dinner in the kitchen. I handed her the flower crown and she smiled, placing it on the counter.

"Ill wear it in a bit love. No, no you keep yours on," she objected when I went to take mine off. I nodded, confused. I didn't under stand why she was acting strange. A knock from the door snapped me out of my thoughts. "Harry get the door love," my mother said, stirring the food she had made.

I nodded, and walked over to the front door, placing my hand on the knob and twisting it open.
