There he sat, in a pile of dust being taken away by the wind.
Emil was a lonely kid. He never grew as tall as the other children and Lukas never let him go to school. Lukas was his big brother. Emil didn't know what Lukas did for a living, but he did know that he went to huge meetings a lot with Tino, Berwald and Mathias who frequently took Peter; this left Emil alone with his pet puffin for weeks at a time.
Emil grew very independent during these weeks and by the time he was 14 he decided to venture out on his own.
