The moon was a bruise in the wounded sky. Ominous clouds annihilated it's light. The world was under a veil of hopelessness.
My sickly-sweet breath, ragged and scarce, gagged me. I felt my knees buckle underneath me. My legs were numb. I watched with despair, as the blood-chilling ground came to greet me. Where am I? What am I doing? Why am I running?
That's when it all flooded back into me...IT was here.
The thought of IT feasting on my soul, devouring all my feelings, memories, my everything, was just off-putting. That was when I realised why it had chosen me to destroy - it was because I yielded no love, happiness or hope.
This was it guys, the end of me, Melanie Silver. I sensed my consciousness slipping away into oblivion, from all the blood I had lost. Every whisper of a breath that escaped my broken lips, brought me closer to darkness.
Darkness enveloped me, embracing me in it's bleak and unforgiving arms. But I felt somewhat...warm?
Screams of agony penetrated my stream of thoughts, and pierced my ears, tearing me back from my deep, dangerous sleep. Reality made itself seen, as realisation slapped me in the face. Someone had saved me from IT. Someone killed IT.
I couldn't see properly, blood was dripping into my eyes, and temporarily blinded me from the world. I groped the dense atmosphere of nothingness, as if caught in a wave of shadows. My feeble hand slowly attempted to reach towards my slouching saviour, his muscular frame calling to me.
I must've drifted off into sleep, because when I awoke, I was surrounded by much, much more people. The sky was clear from the insidious clouds, and rain was beginning to fall from the heavens. But the only person I looked at, was my saviour.
He was sitting on the edge of the forlorn, crumbling road. Larvae white scars embedded themselves into his almost shining skin. Snakes of his blood mixed with the pelting rain, and gave off a metallic smell.
Raindrops dripped off his bare arms, meandering over his prominent, yet hidden muscles, before snaking themselves around his fingers, to dance off the tips of them. I watched in awe as each drop of rain shattered into a million pieces as they collapsed into the group, plummeting to their deaths.
The people around me were all so beautiful, they looked strong and dependable, whereas me? Haha. I was placed in a crumpling heap on the ground, losing blood rapidly, struggling to breathe, and suffering from the pain that soared through my body with every attempt I grasped to stand.
Not to mention a few broken bones here or there, but I was alive. Alive and maybe not so well, but alive, and only just breathing.
"Hey, thanks for saving me from that thing. Are you hurt?" A few of the people around me smirked. I just wanted to slice their arrogant lips off those idiots why were they mocking me. And as for my saviour. He didn't even bother to turn around to look at me, or nod or anything like that. He didn't seem to care let alone acknowledge my very existence, until I started to vomit my innards out.
I was spewing blood, and it was disgusting. The foul substance gave off such a powerful stench, that all my sense were alerted almost immediately. The rain came down heavier, as if trying to dilute the putrid, concentrated substance.
I really was a mess. I could barely breathe, let alone stand or untangle my matted thoughts swimming in an overwhelming pool of confusion and fear.
The moonlight framed my fragile figure. After using all my strength and maybe a bit more, I was finally standing with my two legs. But not for long. Before my eyelids brought darkness upon me once again, I glimpsed by saviour running towards me with inhumane speed, catching me before I fell to the floor, but I must've been dreaming, right? He looked so worried..about me?
And the last part, did I hear wrong? I must be hallucinating and hearing things.
"Melanie, live...."
