THE MONSOON
A Risk Of Rain Fan-fiction / Lore
ENRTY POINT
There I stood, waiting in my containment chamber, to be transported to Saturn. Nothing special, just going to see some family. I heard a noise outside my chamber- like a teleporter, but I figure it's just the ship's machinery. What was I saying? Oh, exposition? Alright. Anyways, I am on the cargo ship UES Contact Light, being transported from Earth to Saturn, and my name is-
BOOM. BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM.
All I hear around me is explosions and sirens as the UES Contact Light is torn to shreds. I hear my life support module whirr to life, filling my chamber with fresh oxygen, and then I realize I'm being sucked out into space. I can feel the chamber start to heat up as I am pulled into the gravity of a nearing planet- what I would guess to be Jupiter.
FIRST STEPS
The chamber crash lands onto the planet, knocking me around, thrashing my body against the titanium walls multiple times, mostly my head. It all stops, and as I regain the amount of consciousness required to get up, I do so. I put on my suit of armor, link up everything I need for survival, and I find the exit to the chamber, and press the button to open the sliding, mechanical door. I look out and see that I am at the bottom of what appears to be a dried-up lake, but still... it does look quite beautiful. At that moment, I realize- The head trauma made me forget just about everything. However, my military training was drilled into my mind, I doubt I could ever lose that. I could do a basic forward roll, and I remembered that I could use it to dodge most attacks. But as I reached down to my belt I realize I have no weap- wait, I feel something in the left side of my belt, and I unsheathe it to find- my trusty dual energy pistols. Then I remembered how to fire them both- the most basic attack I had- but also that I could set it to use a full-metal jacket for a harder hit, and set it for suppressive fire to stun opponents. It's a good thing I remembered this quickly, because there was some sort of purple humanoid creature, looking about 7' tall, running at me, jaws open to reveal large sets of pointed teeth. By the way it was growling and snarling, I could tell it didn't want me as a friend, but rather have me for dinner instead. I shot it with my pistols just once, and it still charged forward at full speed. I realized this was not any ordinary animal- It had a bit of armor on it's shoulders, and it's skin looked more tough and leathery than a prized cow's. I had to shoot it about six times, square in the chest, before it finally fell dead. I saw another one in the distance, but it apparently couldn't see me from this far away. Then out of nowhere, I saw the ground about 15 feet in front of me shift, rustle, then rise, and cemented together in the shape of what appeared to be some sort of a golem. It's one, glowing red eye blinked to life with a brilliant flash, and it looked straight at me. It started walking towards me, but as it reached the edge of the platform it was on, it stopped. I don't think this creature was light enough to jump, even though the platform was only about a foot down. I took this to my advantage and begun shooting everything I had at it. It took almost a minute of shooting it before I saw it's eye seem to overload and explode, beheading the golem, and stopping any sort of life. Out of it, came a few bright orbs that seemed to float there for a second, before they locked on to me, and chased me. I had no idea what they were, but I figured everything on this planet was hostile, so I tried running. The orbs, however were much faster than I, and they caught up instantly, seeping into my body. I almost screamed, but... it actually felt nice. I heard a sound from nowhere that kind of sounded like an angelic choir. I don't know how, but I felt... just generally better. I felt as though I could resist more, that I had sharper reflexes, and that I could hit things even harder. It seemed as though I should collect these orbs whenever I could. I thought to myself how I could exit and get back to the UES Contact Light, and I remembered- when Jupiter had it's war with Mars, Jupiter would use teleporters to bring their soldiers to the battlefield even quicker than just walking, or even taking a ship. I became determined to find one of these teleporters, just to see where it would take me. I started walking, and as I did, the landscape began to sprawl out in front of me. I could see Ropes, launch Pads, Containers, but no sign of the teleporter. I just needed to keep walking. I walked up to one of the containers, and on it, in crude yellow paint, was the number 25 above a little coin slot. I tried to pry it open with my hands, but it seemed to be electrically sealed. I pulled out some pocket change, and counted how much there was, and there was 35 dollars in coins. I inserted 25 into the slot, hoping that it would work. The coins clanged around inside the container, and then I heard a click, and the container opened with a slight hiss of air. Inside of the container lay a small seed with a red aura around it. I knew what this was- it was called The Leeching Seed. This seed was a scientific marvel- it would absorb the oxygen and nutrients from nearby open wounds or blood, and store it inside, where it could be harvested. Seeing the hostile journey ahead of me, I knew that this would help me immensely. I implemented the seed into my suit's life support system. I figure that would probably work best.
THIS IS ALL I HAVE FOR NOW CUZ WRITING THIS STORY GETS BORING AFTER A COUPLE HOURS. THERE WILL BE MORE, BLAH-BLAH-BLAH, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
