Chapter Three.

Nevaeh sat quietly in the library reading the book she had found earlier. The words on the page painted a picture of a world she desperately wanted to be apart of. She was tired of the constant bulling she was getting. It wasn't her fault her parents left her alone. It wasn't her fault she lived in an orphanage.

"Ok where was I?" She thought as she opened the book. Searching for her page. She had remembered she just read about a crack appearing in the wall.

Finding her page, Nevaeh quickly began to read.

The woman stepped back from the crack with a frown on her face. Never before had something like this happened. Should she run and tell the elders? It was night though how could she explain the reason for being out at the wall. She couldn't tell them. She wouldn't tell them.

Hiking up her skirts the woman quickly ran back home. This could wait. The crack wasn't anything to worry about, it was only the size of her palm.

"What do you have here?" Nevaeh heard as the book in her hands was suddenly ripped away.

"Hey give me that back!" Nevaeh yelled at the smirking boy.

"Nope. This is mine now. Maybe I will just read some." The boy opened the book to a random page and began reading the story out loud as the other boy held Nevaeh back.

"The darkness surrounded the town like a blanket. It was the perfect time to begin the festival. Five hundred years the town lived in peace. Each year the festival was bigger and better than the previous year." The boy slammed the book closed. "This is stupid fantasy. No wonder no one likes you." The boy said holding the book. The other laughed as he pushed Navaeh back down on her butt.

"You know what we do wit stupid books?"

Navaeh shook her head afraid of the answer. She wanted her book back.

"We flush it." The boy answered with an evil smile.

"No!!!" Navaeh cried out as she tried to get to her feet. The other boy knocked her back down as the evil boy ran off towards the washrooms. "Let me up!!" Naveah cried as she watched the boy enter the bathroom.

The other boy stepped back as Navaeh scrambled to her feet. She ran as fast as she could to the boys washroom. All she heard as she slammed the door open was the sound of the toilet flushing and the evil boy cackling.

"My book!!" Navaeh cried out as she watched the pages soak up the water.

"Told you. It's a stupid book." The evil boy said as he pushed Navaeh down towards the swirling bowl. He laughed the whole way out of the washroom.

Crying Navaeh reached inside the white bowl and pulled the soaking book out. She shook it off and took it over to the hand dryer. Making the dryer turn on she placed the book under the heat and flipped the pages carefully. Lots of the pages were stuck together and hard to take apart without ripping them.

"I am sorry." Navaeh said as she carefully reached for some paper towel. She needed to dab the wet pages and hopefully save her book.
