Black hair, pearly skin, blue eyes. Energetic, beautiful, and talented; Vanessa Jones was all of this and more. A popular actress, recording artist, and a wonderful dancer. Yet here she was, shaking in a bathroom stall. Her tights were torn, her strapless black dress was too, and she she stared at the bottle in her hands. It was warm now, from her own hands as she clutched it, but she dared not drink anymore. Not because she didn't want it, but because she couldn't raise her arms to her lips. Vanessa jerked beside the toilet as the door to the bathroom swung open. She saw a familiar pair of, neon, pink Skechers trudge into the bathroom. They opened the first stall, the second, the third, then stopped at the last. Of course that was where Vanessa was.
"Hey, rock star, you okay back there?" The person asked.
That person was known as Mia Verces. The very person who had convinced Vanessa to come to this party. The problem was, however, that they were both to young to be there. Vanessa only 17 and Mia 18. Vanessa coughed in reply to Mia and fought back the urge to vomit. Mia heard this and quickly slipped underneath the door and into the stall. She grabbed Vanessa by the shoulders and shook her from where they both half sat half crouched.
"Hey, Vanessa?" Mia asked, shaking her more.
Vanessa did not take kindly to the shaking and vomited into the toilet.
"Oh god that's gross." Mia said, holding back herself from doing the same.
"M-Mia I c-can't..." Vanessa was unable to finish, twitching wildly.
A small stream of blood trickled out of her nose which Mia noticed and wiped away.
"Wait, what did you take? There's no way that just drinking would-" Mia stopped to look around the stall.
Three empty bottles, a syringe, and a strip of empty medicine tablets.
"Oh Vanessa, why?" Mia asked, stroking her friend's hair, realizing what Vanessa had done.
Vanessa said nothing, only shaking and occasionally coughing in response. Mia wasn't sure what to do and she stood to pace around the stall. Vanessa, in the same instant, began to worsen in condition. She could hardly breath and her aches and pains were replaced with the feeling of nothingness. Vanessa sputtered for life one more time as Mia continued to think. Vanessa stopped shaking, stopped coughing, stopped breathing. Mia noticed, but not in the instant. She noticed too late. Far too late.
