Rush hour. Dozens of people were filing into the small coffee shop, stopping by for their daily fix before work. Men in stuffy suits with pastel ties, women wrapped in luscious cashmere coats and woolen scarves, college students wearing beanies and sporting jansport backpacks and black ray-bans alike scurried into the small shop, hustling and bustling their way in the line, tapping their foot impatiently. An aroma of ground coffee beans filled the air, the voices of the baristas behind the counter cheerfully announcing orders for each customer. Light jazz music played faintly overhead, the sound of saxophones and guitars drifting merrily through the busy little shop.

A golden bell tinkled above the doorframe, signaling each time a new customer arrived. A gust of frigid wind blew into the shop every time the worn wooden door was pushed open, and shut closed.
