Heated Spider Ambience
(Inspired by CamillaWritesStories's Underswap fanfiction, And We All Fall Down)
I wandered around the cobbled streets, searching. Where was he? I didn't know. All I knew was that he told me to meet him here, alone.
"Sans?" I called out into the darkness. . . but nobody came. "Please Sans. It's scary out here." Still no reply.
I had always wondered why he disappeared somewhere everyday and met up with me when the sun had went down.
'Maybe he's scared of the sun.'
'Maybe he's a vampire.'
'Maybe he's ashamed of me and only sees me at night so others don't look down on him for it.'
These thoughts swam around in the forever crazy ocean of my brain as I tried to keep myself calm. Was he even going to show up? "Saaaaaaaaaaaaans!" I yelled, hoping he would hear and come to me. Nope. Nothing. Defeated, I lowered my voice "Okay I need doughnut now."
I skipped along the path a took a left, bringing me along the street of Scrooge & Marley's, then a right towards the park. Left, right, right, left, right, left, left, right.
My hands reached to the handle of the bakery, my warmth coming into contact with the cold metal surface as a opened the door.
"Hi Muffet..." I said, head down whilst I walked through the door. The greeting wasn't returned so I looked up towards the counter; she wasn't there.
'Maybe she's in the kitchen.'
"Muffet...?" I asked, walking closer to the counter. "If you're messing with me, it isn't funny."
'Maybe she's just trying to scare me.'
Once again, I wasn't answered. "Hello?"
'...Maybe she's dead'
I lowered my voice, now speaking to myself as an attempt to calm my anxieties "I guess I'll check in the back then."
My heart continuously thumped in my chest as I made my way to the kitchen door. Was I going to make it out alive? The answer was unclear at the time. All I knew was that my friend might have been in danger and I was going to save her, even if the only danger was a small fire.
Hesitantly, I pushed on the door, my eyes scrunched shut in fear. After five seconds of preparation, I opened one eye. I should have kept them shut. There, in front of me, was the skeleton who had ditched me, hovering over Muffet's bloody, mangled corpse and their clothes were covered in some sort of blue substance, which I could only presume was my friend's blood... and he was looking at me, annoyance in his eye sockets.
My hands were now over my mouth as I tried to choke back the sobs. I couldn't save her.
"HUM- I mean, (Y/N), I'm sorry you had to see thi-" Sans, after standing up, had tried to say, only to be cut off by my scream and attempt to turn around and run home.
My desperation to escape was noticed. He scowled, clicking his fingers and teleporting me next to him.
"As I was trying to say, I'm sorry you had to see this, darling. This spider was – well – trying to take you away from me and I couldn't let that happen. She was trying to change you with all these cakes." His voice grew darker and he continued. "She tried to poison you, my sweet (Y/N), and I couldn't– I JUST COULDN'T– let that happen."
He then turned to look back at me, only to see that I was gone again and trying to open the door.
"C'mon budg-"
"You're starting to get on my nerves, (Y/N). There's no use trying to get out, I barricaded the door."
Uncomfortable silence filled the room until I spoke.
"...why?" I had whispered."What was that?"
"I said, WHY?!"
Once again, the room was filled with yet another awkward silence. He didn't reply, only looking as if he was at war with himself. For a moment, he looked... horrified, looking down at his gloves which were covered in his friend's blood. Tears formed in his orbits and he looked at me, his expression constantly changing from anger to guilt.
"Human, I want yo..." he whispered, barely being able to be heard.
"what?"
"I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT ME. I CAN ONLY CONTROL MY ACTIONS FOR A SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME. PLEASE FIND PAPYRUS AND TELL HIM WHAT'S GOING ON, HE'LL PROTECT YOU FROM ME. I'M SORRY (Y/N)."
I ran to the door, trying to open it and – to my surprise – it actually opened.
"OH AND (Y/N)?"
"yeah?"
"I LOVE YOU."
"I love you too."
I ran out of the door and slammed it shut, running as fast as I possibly could in the direction of the house. Papyrus normally goes to Muffet's at this hour but since he wasn't there then, he must have been making his way at that very moment in time.
