Finally he is gone, Arianna thought. There was a whole mansion to explore with not much time.
I will do the upstairs first, she thought. Then the down stairs and finally the basement.
Arianna would be here all summer. Her parents had won a 3 month Cruise. And had left her there since the tickets were only for two.
But Arianna didn't mind. She was always on the look out for a new adventure.
And a new County and huge house might be what she was looking for. Arianna was going back to her bed room when she spotted a staircase she had not noticed before.
After climbing a flight of stairs, Arianna spotted a door.
She grabbed the knob. It was locked.
She quickly took a bobby pin out of her hair. And had to lock picked in three minutes.
There was a small circular room. The old floors where rough and wooden. And there was a mop and bucket stored in a cranny. The whole room was a dingy tan.
Arianna crossed to a window and leaned out feeling the cold air on her face. No matter how long she stayed she could never get used to a view like that.
As Arianna back away from the window, she noticed a small door she could have sworn was not there before.
It was also locked. But wait a minute they were in a tower, what could be behind the door?
Arianna was about to peep though the key whole when she tripped. She gripped a candelabra and was about to stand up when the candelabra slid under her fingers like a lever.
Suddenly, a brick popped out from the window ledge. Nestled in it was a piece of parchment.
It was rough to the touch and smell musty. It must have been years old. Arianna was about to read it when her uncle called, "Arianna."
She slipped it into her pocket and ran upstairs.
