Arianna studied the paper again. What could it be, Arianna thought to herself. She repeated the message again.
Feed me and I live give me water and I will die.
That was it! FIRE the answer was FIRE!!! But what could she do now? There could not be a message in fire could there.
Maybe I should burn the note?!?!? She crossed to the fire on the other side of the room and gingerly dropped it in the flames. The more and more the paper burned, the more a white inscription became visible.
Arianna had to take the note out of the fire before it burned completely.
She tried to grab it but her fingers were only scorch. What could she do? Then the words from the Riddle came back to her. Give me water and I die. She grabbed a conveniently placed pitcher of water.
And dumped the water on the flaming hot fire. And then Arianna carefully picked up then. She brushed off a few cinders from her shoulders.
But before she could read the silver inscription etched on the paper, her maid, called her down for dinner.
Arianna rolled her eyes and stuffed the paper in her bag.
