Chapter One 

 Haley's POV

I was sitting out in the garden with Amy like every afternoon.

"Isn't it beautiful out?", I asked Amy

"Yes, it's quite nice."

As Amy finished one of the nurses walked up to us.

" Can I get you ladies anything?", the nurse asked

"Could you get us the old antique box from our room?", I replied. 

"I'll be right back.", she said with a warm smile.  

I leaned back in my chair, letting the cool, fall breeze blow across my face. For a few minutes we just sit here and enjoy the breeze, I turn around and I can see the nurse coming back with the box tucked under her arm.

"Here you go, Haley.", she said handing me the box.

"Thank you, Brenda."

I layed the box on the table in front of me, Amy slid her chair over so she could see. I opened it and picked up a couple of photographs.

Amy points out a picture of us from our first day of college.

"Do you remeber this?", she asks.

"Of course, how could I forget." 

*FLASHBACK*

Haley's POV

Today is my first day of college and I can't wait to get there. Amy and I are going to be attending the same college which is great. Amy has been my neighbour and best friend since we were kids.

I walk out of my room and jog down the stairs.

"Hey mom."

"Morning."

"Has Amy come over yet?"

"No, not yet."

" She's probably not even up yet.", I say rolling my eyes.

"I'm going to make sure she's up, be back soon."

"Alright."

I run out the front door, and across the front lawn to Amy's house. I knock once as I open the door.

"Hey everyone!", I yell as I head up the stairs towards Amy's room.

I throw the door open, I run in and jump on the bed.

"Amy!! Wake up!!!" I yell as I jump around on the bed.

"Fuck off, Hale." Amy mumbles as she rolls away from me.

" Get up! We leave for college today!!"

"Shit! I forgot all about that! What time is it?"

"Don't worry." I say laughing, "You have plenty of time to get ready."

"Thank god.", Amy says with a sigh.

"Go get a shower, you stink.", I say wrinkling my nose.

"Shut up!", Amy says, hitting me with a pillow as she gets up. 

"I'm kidding!", I say through laughter, sheilding myself from her attack.

"That's what I thought." She says with a grin, as she walks toward the door. " Now, I'm going to get my shower, be back in 10 minutes."

"Alright, I'll be right here"

I lay back on Amy's bed while I wait for her, suddenly her phone vibrates on the side table. I pick it up to see who it is, it's her ex-boyfriend, Drew. It says 'Good luck today :)'. 

"What are you doing?"

I jump when I hear Amy's voice, I haden't heard her come back in.

"Drew texted you." 

"That's nice. What does he want?" She asked, facing her closet.

"He just said, good luck today."

"Oh."

"Oh? Is there something you're not telling me?"

"It's nothing. Drew has been trying to get back together for the past couple weeks."

"Why didn't you tell me?!" I ask loudly.

"Because I don't want us to get back together and everyone keeps telling me we should." She replies, turning to face me.

"Amy, we leave today for college. We don't have to put up with any of these people anymore, so don't worry about it.", I say with a smile.

"You're right. Okay, so what should I wear?" 

We've been driving for about half an hour and decided to pull over and get something to eat at a small diner. Opening the heavy door, Amy and I slid inside away from the cold. We each ordered a small coffee and we got a cinamon roll  to split . 

"Amy, what do you want to see happen during our time at school?"

"I'd like to have a sappy romance, and maybe try skinny dipping!"

I laugh lightly, "Thats a great expectation." 

"What about you?", Amy smiles 

"I need to learn how to cook."

 Amy bursts out in to laughter, "Yeah like thats going to happen"

"Can we just get going now?" I  asked, slightly annoyed. 

"Sure.", Amy stands up and fixes her shirt, while tip the waiter.

We grab our coats and head outside to the car, I get in the drivers side. 

 I  quickly search my pockets, " I forgot the keys inside, hold on." 

" This is going to be a long drive.", Amy says, laying her head on the window.
