"Luna! Luna, sweetie! Come on, darling!" Luna Stella Oliver's mother, Stella Oliver, after who she was given her middle name called to her.
"Coming, Mom!" she called back. Luna grabbed her purse, her phone, and her earbuds. She ran out her bedroom door, down the hallway, then turned left and raced down the stairs and out the garage door. She jogged out to a blue Mercedes, climbed swiftly into the from seat, then closed the door and fastened her seatbelt.
Anyways, her mother put pressure on the gas pedal, backed out of the garage and driveway, and turned out of their peaceful neighborhood of Moonside Shores.
"Mom?" Luna asked as she turned to her mother.
"Yes, darling?"
"Do you think I'll do well in 8th grade?"
"Of course, sweetie! You're grades were excellent last year, why shouldn't they be this year?"
"I don't know." Luna started. "I-I guess I'm just overreacting." she said shyly.
"No, you're not, Luna. Most everyone has these nerves when starting a new school year; your nerves are just like everyone else's." her mother comforted her.
Luna smiled. "Are you sure?" People at school judge us based off of our looks a lot."
"Positive. And Luna, I want you to hear me on this. Are you listening?"
"Yes."
"People who judge you based on what you look like are people who you do not need in your life. A true friend judges based off of personality and who we truly are. Never forget that, as long as you live."
"I won't." Luna replied. "Ever."
"Very good. Like for instance, Herbert. I think he's a great friend for you, sweetie."
Luna chuckled softly. "Thanks.' He really is a great friend." she said.
The mother and daughter sat there in silence for a few minutes; Stella was just driving, Luna sitting and daydreaming.
All of a sudden, a black car cut in front of them, and backed up into them.
"Mom! Watch out!" Luna cried.
"Luna!" her mother shrieked simultaneously, slamming her foot on the brake and grabbing her daughter.
But, alas, it was to late; the car hit them, and shattered everyone, piercing the skin of the passengers in both vehicles.
Luna went flying involuntarily out of the car window, seatbelt breaking she did so. Her mother was hit by the airbag, throwing itself towards her, and her head slammed itself against it, then hit the back of her seat; unconscious.
Mom! Luna tried to scream, but she couldn't. She was too terrified to do anything except bleed out onto the ground. Is this the end? Please don't let this be the end. I don't want to die. Ehhhh. she fell unconscious to the soft green grass that she laid on.
A car door opened and slammed shut. A man wearing a police uniform raced out to the field where the girl lay dying.
His hands flew to his mouth and he dropped to his knees when he realized the 13 year old girl, Luna Stella Oliver, was his daughter. But more importantly, she was the last Moon Child.
