Maquerade

I wake up in the morning

Thinking of any reason why I'd have to

It's for my future

My family

My future family

And TRUE friends

But for you, I have no clue

I'm so confused

Were you wearing that mask

Ever since I thought that we belonged?

Side by side

Till the end of time?

As I enter the classroom

I wear my mask

And fake a smile

Because I've found a loop

Into knowing who you really are

Filled with self - centeredness

And a heart filled with hatred

I lift my shield up

And a guard for my heart

Readying myself

For a war that is coming

At first, I could never imagine

A life without you by my side

I thought you were my friend

I really thought you were

But life is a masquerade

And if that's how you want it

Then so be it

I've been hurt a lot in my life

And now I am immune to pain

Let's just see who'll win

Let the war begin
