Mika and I stood by the fence with the other kids at the prison. We watched as walkers flooded towards the fence. One walker had a name tag on.
"Nick," I said smiling as I pointed to the walker with the tag.
"Hi Nick!" We all said as began to wave.
"That one can be Mike," I started to say, "and that one can be Ally!"
We all began to laugh as Carl and Patrick walked up to us.
"You shouldn't be naming them," Carl said.
"Why not?" I replied.
"Because they kill people, Lizzie," Carl said sounding a bit agitated.
"People kill people, they still have names," I explained. I wanted to point out that Carl's dad has killed many people himself, and he still has a name, but I refrained from doing so.We turned to see Carol in the distance walking up towards us.
"It's story time," she smiled.
We all smiled and followed Carol to the library. All of us except for Carl.We sat down as Carol began to read to us. I sat next to my sister and my dad, who sat a bit higher above us in his chair. He left a little bit after Carol started reading. After my dad left, Carl walked in and sort of lurked around the bookshelves. Then, Carol started the real lesson... weaponry. Today, she was teaching us how to use knives. As soon as she began to speak, Patrick piped up, "Excuse me ma'am, I don't feel well, can I go?" Carol nodded her head as Patrick left the library holding his stomach in an unpleasant way.
As the lesson wrapped up, Carol began to speak to Carl as the rest of us exited the library; but I stayed by the door to listen.
"Don't tell your dad please," I was able to hear Carol speaking, but I became lost in Carl's mumbling and decided to go, realizing that I shouldn't be eavesdropping... also that the conversation wasn't that interesting.
