It was marvelous. When I arrived on the porch of my Nana's house, I was stunned. She lived in a 3 story big Victorian house that was embellished with flowers of all kinds and colors! The bright plants made the baby yellow fresh paint around her house stand out and the even the lawn ornaments looked jovial to be there! I saw my Nana watering one of her many vegetable gardens in the back of her house.

"Now you know the next time I see those little hooligan around my garden one more time you can scare them away OK? No eating alright?" I heard my Nana say to no one in sight. When I finally wheeled my heavy suitcase to the back I paused to listen a little more. "You don't have to be scared." She said. Finally she turned around and smiled. "I was talking to you Mel-Janelle" "Oh I'm sorry! Hey Nana!" I ran over and gave her a huge hug. "How you been doing baby cakes?! You got so dang on big! How old are you now? Don't answer that I already know! But, We got so much we need to talk about! But let's go inside, I just got finish making lunch. How does Homemade Pizza and ice cold lemonade sound?" I giggled by how fast she was talking in excitement! "That sounds great right now!" And with that we walked inside.

We ate talked for hours! It was the best pizza and iced lemonade I ever had. And for a Black mixed with Indian girl, Who was surprisingly fit and really healthy, I could eat! I haven't gotten a good home cooked meal in a long time ever since my mom has been trying to find a decent job in her career and has been super busy dealing with her other day jobs and calling around for interviews. Finally my mom had gotten an important opportunity to be a nurse but she had to live in a hospital for a year and attend the nearby college so she could get full credit so she could graduate and since my dad was in the military over the sea, My wonderful Nana hopped at the opportunity to watch over me until she returned back in Florida from New York. Even though I was 15, My mom said that it would be wrong to neglect me and leave me alone for a whole year. But who could disagree when you will be staying with your awesome Nana who is an amazing cook, A bookworm, a comedian, super caring, and there is never a such thing as a dull moment with her.

She told me that I'll be attending Holston H. High School that is not to far from her house while I'm here. I looked it up and turns out they are an 'A' school with no uniforms and tons of magnet programs, So like usual, Nana was right and hit the jackpot. Even better she gave me over $60 worth of money to go shopping for new clothes even though I had two suitcases full of clothes. But who was going to say no? There is no such a thing as too many new clothes and shoes!

That night after we went shopping and my stomach was full off of steak and potatoes everything was wonderful here, unlike back at home. My mom felt lost. Without my  dad around. She missed him and I did too. But without him here,  life didn't treat us any better.  Everyone treated my mom wrong because she was a single mother trying to go to school and put food on the table. But I didn't. I always loved her the same. No matter whatever we did or what happened. I did always wanted to ask her how Dad was like, A lot of my questions in life never got answered in my life. Like why he never visited us, Or why we never moved, Or why did she cry over his picture like he passed? But I just couldn't bring myself to do it, I didn't want to  hurt her anymore than she probably was already feeling everyday. So all the questions that I wanted to ask about my lively struggle and more about this confounding world, I just kept them deep inside and would wait for the right moment. Who would have ever guessed that all my questions and more would get answered so fast, so suddenly, I wasn't ready for the answers and everything else that came with it.

*Hey everybody! I know this first Chapter is a bit boring but I promise action is coming quickly, I just wanted to give you guys a gist of Mel-Janelle so thanks for your patience! Stay amazing!
