"Mom what's going on, why is everything shaking and falling apart?!" The trembling boy asked.

Screams and the crumbling of buildings could be heard in the distance as the earth shook violently beneath them. The boy's mother was kneeled over him on all fours. She had been hit in the head and was covered in cuts and scratches from protecting him from the building's falling debris. She let out a loud groan and blood infused tears fell from her cheeks to his. She struggled to sit up right for a moment, then pulled him close to her.

"Everything's going to be fine, just stay close and follow behind me okay." she told him in the most reassuring voice she could manage.

The boy teared up, but his mother quickly wiped them from his eyes with her thumb.

When the shaking stopped she took the opportunity to quickly analyze the room. Most of the ceiling had collapsed leaving rugged iron beams exposed overhead and a thick dust cloud masking the room. The cloud only allowed her to see the distant things, but the occasional flickering and sparking of the remaining lights that dangled from the ceiling allowed her to see a bit further.
She glanced to the left and when the lights flickered she gasped at the sight of the slow dripping pool of blood that came from underneath a pile of rubble not too far from her. A pale brown arm stuck out from beneath the rubble, on its wrist was a gold bracelet with the engravings;

               "Martha X Vanessa"

She sobbed over her lover's death and a stream of tears poured from her glassy eyes onto her son's head. Her son hugged her tightly, burying his face in her chest as he cried with her.
She took a deep breath, rubbed her son's head, then stood.

"Come on, we have to get out of here."
She told him with an unsteady voice.

She wiped the tears from both their eyes and carefully lead the way to the exit with a limp.
Her son followed nervously behind her, avoiding the holes and bodies that were scattered about.
As they neared the exit the dust cloud grew thicker limiting their vision to only what was before them.
Something pulled the boy's leg causing him to fall and land face to face with a man whose life had been taken by an iron beam that went through the back of his skull and came out from in between his eyes. He tried to call out to his mother, but the piercing eyes of the man starred straight at him causing him to fall short of breath.

"You can't escape fate, child..."
An ominous voice echoed

The building shook violently and the boy's mother screamed his name, but he was too petrified by what just happened, he just sat there and starred into the eyes of the corps that seemed to have him in a state of hypnosis. His mother screamed louder and the boy snapped out of it. He made a dash for her, but it was too late.
The floor beneath him collapsed and he fell to the lower level.
The boy was trapped underneath the rubble that had fallen and slowly he began to bleed out, right before he lost consciousness the ominous voice spoke again.

"You've slept long enough... Its time you rejoin your other half."

"...?"
The boy was too weak to respond.

He looked over and for a moment he thought he saw a male figure with glowing blue eyes standing in the shadows, but when he looked again no one was there. A loud rumbling sound echoed and the entire upper floor came crashing down, crushing him underneath.
