Back in Time

Chapter 1: Ordinary Day

Jack's Pov

I was on a plane to go visit Mark for a while. It was surprise visit for my birthday tomorrow! I mean what's better than hanging out with your friends on your birthday? Mark was going to be so excited when he sees me. Just then I heard the pilot say on the intercom "Passengers, please fasten your seat belts. We will be landing shortly and we hope you enjoyed your flight today." As told, I buckled my seatbelt and just waited for when we would land. It was late but the flight from Ireland to LA was long. A couple of minutes later, I was outside the airport with my luggage and I was looking for a taxi. Eventually, I hailed one and hopped inside. The driver asked where I was going and I told him Mark's address.

The ride to Mark's house was silent but I didn't really care. I was trying think of how Mark would react when he saw me here for my birthday tomorrow. He was probably going to be really excited and shocked at the same time. Just then the taxi stopped and I looked around. I was at Mark's house already. I guess the ride was really quick. Paying the driver, I grabbed my luggage next to me and hopped out of the taxi. The driver drove off as I walked up to Mark's house. As soon as I was on the doorstep, I rang the doorbell and waited for Mark to answer.

Mark's Pov

For me, today has been just an ordinary, boring day. But then I heard the doorbell ring. I was upstairs in my recording room and I wondered who would be here this late. It was already almost 11pm at my house right now. I got up from my chair and walked to my front door. When I opened it, I was in for a huge surprise. Jack was here! But why? At the moment I didn't really care since my best friend was here, all the way from Ireland.

Shocked, surprised, and happy all at the same time, I said with my hands on the sides of my head "Jack?! What are you doing here?!" He laughed and replied "I thought I would come down for a surprise visit and hang out with my best friend for my birthday tomorrow." I chuckled and said "Fine by me!" Jack laughed a little bit then came inside. I told him that he could put his stuff in the guest bedroom. Jack nodded and headed upstairs to the guest bedroom. This is going to be a great weekend.

After 20 minutes or so, Jack came back downstairs. I asked him what he wanted to do until it gets too late. He thought about it for a couple of seconds but then he said "Let's watch a movie since it's already so late." I looked over at the clock and it was already 11:30 at night. Looking back at Jack, I said "I guess it is getting kind of late isn't? But it's only 30 minutes until your birthday!"

Jack looked extremely excited and said "I know! It's actually kind of exciting since I'm spending it with one of my best friends." I smiled and said to Jack "So, what movie do you want to watch?" Jack thought about it for a minute and said "I don't know, what movies do you have?" I shrugged my shoulders and stared to walk over to my movies. As I went over to the movies I said "Let's see what we got."

We eventually ended up choosing Attack on Titan since we couldn't really decide on a movie. As the show started to play, I looked over at the clock again. It was 11:59 at night, and only a couple seconds away from midnight. 5. Jack yawned as it got closer to midnight. 4. I could tell that Jack was starting to feel a bit off. 3. I just kept looking at the clock, taking small glances to look over at Jack. 2. I didn't know what it was but I felt like something bad was about to happen. 1. And that's where things got strange.
