MEET RYAN SUNG. A teenage boy who knows how to use his words well. He 'graces' our presence with his handsome features and all-around good personality. On the eve of his fifteenth birthday, he was a told a story regarding his ancestry and as he finally came of age, he was introduced to the supernatural world. The supernatural gene had skipped his father and his fraternal twin, but it passed on to Ryan who was now a Dokkaebi.
BEING A DOKKAEBI was a big responsibility, according to his father. In folklore, they were short ugly goblin spirits who carried around a spiked bat with the ability to turn invisible. They were the Robin Hoods of the Korean supernatural world and enjoyed tricking people, never being good or bad. Dokkaebi usually stuck around kitsunes as sort of a protective measure.
FROM NEW YORK TO BEACON HILLS, it was a big change. Maybe not as big of a change from New York to Hongdae, but it was still up there. His father had said was it was something about 'finding your purpose,' but moving half way through the school year was just brutal. Moving was always a hassle, but maybe the cute blue-eyed boy next door will make it seem better.
