The scratchy screech noise, that sounded vaguely like the front window being scratched, brought you out of your thoughts concerning the newly purchased romance book. You had just settled down into the comfortable beige sofa, which just so happened to be in front of the window, getting ready to read your new books you've been waiting so long to read,"True Love Starts At Grr" . It had only been out for a week and a half and you were ecstatic.
Looking over your shoulder, you come face-to-face with an awful looking sight. The kindhearted neighbor with brunette hair you had lunch with yesterday had blood dripping from her mouth dripping down onto your front porch. Her mangled hands were terrifying, they looked like they had been chewed down to the beginning bone, leaving rips and tears of skin down her forearm. You were afraid to look closer fearing if you did, you would be able to see where the tendon weaved through the muscle.
A heart-shattering scream was tearing its way out of your throat, but you tried your best to keep it down, it's best to keep some reason and figure out what the heck is going on.
" Jamie, are you okay darling?" You ask through the window slowly standing up. Your legs were shaking as if they were a bowl of jello and you had no clue how long you would be able to keep your cool.
That's when she freaked. Throwing her body into the glass and giving off the most horrendous sound, it reminded you of a wolf's howl when they finally killed their prey. You stood there transfixed that is until it mixed with others. That's when you finally took action, willing your body to rush up the stairs without tripping over your own two feet was a fight, but when you finally arrived your chest was going up and down as if you were on a roller coaster.
Throwing open your bedroom door you rush to the closet and stretch your body to grab your baby pink gym bag on the top shelf. Really? You just had to put it on the top didn't you. Barely grazing the bag you will your body to stretch more and when you finally get ahold of the bag it ended up crashing onto the floor.
Stuffing the cute bag full of necessary clothes you decide to head out until this whole situation calms down, on the plus side maybe you could visit your parents and siblings.
Trekking down the stairs you hear multiple rough bangs on the door, it spikes your heart rate just thinking about what happened to the kind woman next door. Oh! I'm such an idiot. Digging your phone out of your pocket to call the cops and an ambulance you continue to the kitchen to get some snacks and a water bottle to calm your nerves.
"Hello this is nine-one-one, what's your emergency?" The monotone voice on the other side of the line brings you a little bit of comfort calming your heart at least a little bit.
" Yes, this is Jacobie White. I live on six, seven, four Rosestone street. My neighbor and a few others are banging on my door and I am afraid they are going to break in. Many of the individuals are wounded and are bleeding all over my front porch." Your breathing spikes and you're almost certain that you are going to have a full blown panic attack.
" Alright sir, I need you to stay calm the cops are on their way and I need you to do something for me. I need you to make your way to your bathroom and lock the door and keep the lights off. Can you do that for me?" The operator starts to sound concerned which only brings you into further panic, but you say yes anyways.
" I'm going to stay on the line, so please don't hang up. If you need someone to talk to I am here." She says trying to sooth you even further, however it doesn't work as well as she thought it would.
Hiding in the bathroom isn't how you thought you were going to die, but with the heavy drawn out thudding of many footsteps coming closer to the bathroom made you definitely think so. Clutching the phone closer you suck in a breath and mutter under your breath, "please get here soon."
"Police!" You hear being shouted by many men and you let go of the breath you didn't know you were holding. Thank you, thank you for helping me.
"Get down on your knees, hands above your heads!" The moans and groans steadily got further away and you take in a deep breath to calm the unsettled nerves from before. The police are here, they will know what to do. They will keep me safe.
You could still hear them from within your master bedroom bathroom, and that meant some of them stayed in the room to get you. They continuously grew closer and closer, many of them let out shrill shrieks and others let out throaty groans.
Shots rang throughout the house and a pool of blood rushes through the door crack. A choking sob escapes your mouth, you can't seem to keep your breathing even for the life of you. With wide eyes, you crawl on top of the closed toilet seat clutching your bag like a safety line.
"Hello, Is anyone in there? We are the police and we need you to come out, it's all safe now." A sturdy, commanding tone said.
"I-I-I can't," you start to say gasping for breaths, "I'm h-having a panic at-attack." If you maintained your breathing like you wanted to, you could have avoided this whole situation.
"Alright, do me a favor darling okay? Align your breathing to this. Inhale for four hold for seven exhale for eight." A new voice said. It was softer than the others, but still very firm and controlling.
