Prompt: Write a scene that starts with the line, "He waited for her." (I'm going to make it, He waited for him. Hope you don't mind)
My attempt:
He waited for him everyday for the past ten years. He wouldn't consider himself to be a fool, but boy did he feel like one when he walked home empty handed and hearted.
Now you might be thinking he has meet this woman-looking male before, however that is not the case. He has had glimpses of this gorgeous beauty in all of his dreams. The most prominent being the one with the kids in it.
There he was pushing a squealing little kid with curly brunette hair up and down the swing when he hears a loving voice call out for him.
" Honey, it's dinner time! Hurry it's going to be cold! Bring Samuel inside and wash those hands young man." He says brunette hair swirling in the wind giving him the perfect goddess look. His hand resting on his hip, giving him a slight smile and shaking his head in a playful manner.
Looking back at the little boy, Samuel, he hears a voice he hasn't heard before. "Daddy, come on! Mommy made spaghetti!"
This is the exact moment he woke up and boy did he yearn for the dream to be a reality. He wanted a little boy to call his own and a loving wife to kiss him good morning and night, but sadly not everybody got what they wished for and he was proof of that.
Everyday he got up, realized he was all alone and walked his sad self to the shower to begin the long day of loneliness. He had good friends that often times kept him company, but this loneliness was different. It was an ache he felt for hours and would never go away, one that he couldn't seem to fill no matter what he did, but everyday was the same, He went to work to help his team of little football players, which he loved each so much, and on the way home he stopped at some fast food place or restaurant hoping to get to his favorite spot as soon as possible.
It was a small meadow located not too far from his house and he often found himself going there when he was upset, today was one of those days where he automatically went there to make himself feel better. By the time he finally got there, he realized it was almost dark and the stars were out. One in particular caught his attention.
The star was so bright and he couldn't help but spread his wish. Please oh please help me. I would be so appreciative if you could help me out here. Please let me find my one and only. He knew it was childish to wish on a star, but he couldn't help but feel comforted that he was attempting to do something about his problems.
