March 1, 2000
I wonder what town would be like if I wasn't there, maybe it would be the same...boring. I'm moving into this new place that I have no idea of going to. I can't believe mom actually thought I'm going to like it here, bet I won't, not even the slightest bit. I guess I'm going to have to get used to it, I've never even heard of a place called Arizona but many say it's nice, so I'll try it out, lets see where this is going...

It's march 1st and it's literally warm but I still keep my jacket on, my mom thought it will be nice if we went and got to know everyone in the town, like really, does she really think I want to know a whole bunch of these strangers.

As we walk up the stairs to the first house on the block I think about how the people would be like even before they opened the door. Cocky, rude, or maybe even too nice and might stab you in the back later on that we would have to move again. Oh boy. As we make it to the door my mom knocks to find out who's there, 'Honey stop slouching it's not nice to do so, we're meeting new people, at least lighten up a bit,' mom says as the door stops halfway and then fully to see a boy standing near the doorway. He wasn't at all excited to see us at his doorstep and I wouldn't blame him, I wasn't either. He gives my mom and I blank looks as he lets us in, still staring at me as I'm walking past.

I thought it was pretty weird but I didn't think so much about it as I went to see his parents. As we walked into as what I thought was their kitchen, I had to say it's pretty huge so I figured that they seem like the rich kind...great. 'Hi you must be the Carter's, were so glad you guys could make it into Arizona,' the lady says. I figured it was the kid's mom cuz she looked really pretty, I couldn't have tell if the guy even standing next to her was her husband, man they both look amazing standing next to each other, they seemed like movie stars from how good they looked.

'Its nice to meet you too, you must be Sarah and this must be your husband Mason?,' mom says, I guess she had a lot of info on the first family.

After we met the family my mom left me to talk to Sarah's son, Alex. It didn't really seem like he talked much, but I don't either, so we basically sat there for about 10 minutes till he said something.

'Your not the first family to come over as the big news,' Alex says, as he stares off somewhere.

'I didn't think you could actually talk,' I say, staring at him, then him looking at me and staring back

' It's not like I'm going to randomly pop up with a convo like most people do,' Alex said. I watch him quietly, but noting many things about him, doesn't seem at all like a social person, quiet, and doesn't like people.  I could name about more things if he wasn't so cold every time I said something. I started to eat some of the candy that I had when I left and he started staring at it, eyeing it like if he looked at it hard enough he could of had made it explode with just his eyes. I popped one in my mouth and he slowly raised out his hand for one

'Could I have one, if u don't mind?," he says as he looks into my eyes. I handed him one and kept watching him, I kept staring at him every time he did something, it's so random but it happens. I don't stare at many, or even pay attention at the least, but with him it's so different. I could say he looked like someone similar from home, my ex-friend Nathaniel, he looked and acted so much like him, wasn't that hard, while I was thinking to myself about more people he could of happened to look like he asked a random question,

Lauren, don't I know you?'

I thought to myself  'Does he even know me?' 'Why would he even ask me something like that and we just met?'  I was about to answer him but before I could my mom and the rest of the adults walked over and stood at the door laughing and exchanging numbers.

'Lauren it's time to go meet the rest of the neighbors, Sarah it was nice talking to you and Mason, bye now.'

Everyone went their separate ways while Alex kept staring off, away from his parents, just looking away. I shrugged and went off with my mom to more random houses that I wouldn't care less about, but still had his question running through my head, still wondering why he would ask....

Later we went back to check out our own house, I was glad to finally sit down, for once my mom looked beat too and rested back on the couch without hesitation. I walked up to my room thinking about today. Mainly I couldn't stop thinking about why he asked, I had so many questions to ask that I had no idea how the answers would be.

While I went to shower and rest, I roam through the halls looking for some extra blankets and pillows for the bed, I came across a photo that didn't look at all odd, it was a picture of dad, and some building he was standing next to, I haven't even seen what he looked like, or how he was before he died. I put the photo down and found the things right the bathroom. I went to my room and thought random things about today,

'What a day,' I say to myself until I fall into a deep sleep...
